stripping/painting valve covers?

I see that the 1993 Sc's had metal valve covers. I wish I had those kind. I am looking to strip the paint off of my Magnesium covers. They are off the car and are chipping in some areas. How do I remove the old paint? Scrapping? stripping? Should I use any primer when I paint the them? Any tips or suggestions that you can provide would be great?

You can use a spray paint remover or simply use oven cleaner on them. Be sure to wash & rinse them real good after stripping to stop the caustic action. When you're through sanding, use a good primer on 'em. I prefer any gray "feather-fill" from the partshouse. Top-coat them with your choice of engine paint, I prefer Duplicolor. Bake them in an oven at 350 for 3-4 hours and they'll look great.
