New cps & BHJ STILL MISSES

My 90 auto sc has had a miss in it for about 3 months. When it first started to miss I
change the plugs (ford) Magnecor wires.did not help.ran codes ,got a 14 cps bad,
Put a new cps on just got done still have a miss.

I have replaced the plugs, spark plug wires, and checked then 4 or 5 time .Installed
cam sensor, crank sensor,o2 sensor.I have no vacum leaks.

After working on this car for over a year now, I need some pointers on
how to keep a positive attitude.

I have only gottin to drive it about 300 miles in over a year.

Have you run codes since installing the BHJ and crank pulley sensor? If so, what codes are you getting now?

If not, this could be coil pack or DIS module issue.

Let us know, hopefully someone can help. Troubleshooting these cars can be difficult, but once you get it right you'll realize it was all worth while. Stay positive, you'll get it right.

The codes that I have got before cps replacement was 14,41.
14 was for the cps .The 41 was lean .
I will run codes in the morning.
One day it ran better,so i had it dyno-tune.It was running
lean so Brian fatin it up through the eec.It made 221RWHP &
331.9 rwtq. But it started missing before I got back home.

If I keep changing parts ,sooner or later I will mess up and
find it.

In couple more month I should have a all most new SC.

I agree. Change enough parts and you will find the problem, but that is a PITA. Try running the codes again, and report back.

Brian knows what he's doing, so have some faith.

I have a lot of trust in Brian. He has been a big help.
I am shure he could fix it. But brian is 100 miles away
from me.And the SC will not make it that far.

You should take a look at some of the wire harness for the fuel injectors, make sure they are tight. I had problems with intermitant connections there, no codes would come up either.
good luck

What about the IC tubes? Are the sealed properly? RTV works temporarily, but WILL blow out over time. By some tape from Bill E. and reseal them. That could make it miss or stumble at part throttle.

Didn't you just go through this a couple weeks ago and get it fixed?

Is this a miss under load or at idle or both?

Any tune up shop should be able to put it on a scope and pinpoint at least the cylinder involved in the miss. Have you thought about trying that?

My miss started when i got on the throttle to see what it would do in the 1/4
mile that I have marked off on the road in front of my home. This was the first
of December 02. Went over about every sensor on the car.Kept following the
codes the I had got.But I just could not find a cure for the miss. Some times
it would get better , but never totaly right. It would get a real bad miss after
I would floor the sc. It would miss from idle to what ever rpm range.

Went out to run codes again this morning. It had no codes.Still ran bad.
So I took the DIS ignition control module off. Looked it over, visable check
looked ok,so I put some dielectric grease on the bottom of the dis, bolted
it back on. Started the motor and it ran perfect.

So from past experience I am not going to say it is fixed, but the dielectric grease
applied to the bottom of the dis has made sc run like new.

One good thing about my miss in the motor is that after some of the part
changes I have more horse power now.

BILL MCNEIL Ran codes this morning, with KOEO I got 14,15,41.
With the KOER I got 42,77,74.

I drove the sc about 24 miles check engine light came on.Shut
the motor off , drank some coffee for an hour or so.Went back
started sc no check engine light.Drove 24 miles back home
ckeck engine light came on,so I pulled it in the shop and pulled
the codes. The sc run just fine.I cleared the codes before starting.
If I dont fine this problem soon, I am going to half to see Hons whileman
for hair replacement, from pulling mine out tring to figuar this out.

 Call Autozone.. that's about double what I thought they listed for. If they have them, be sure to take your's in and make sure its the right part.

I went to Auto Zone. They wanted $86.50 . But they would half to order it,and
it would not be in till 02-28-03. The brand name for the DIS was Williams.
Would this brand Williams be ok to use.Has any one have any experience with
this part.

XR7 DAVE I could not fine Ford parts , at that web address .Could not
figuar out how to get to any parts.Thank for tring to help me though.

It's there. When you open the main page click on the large red button to open up the catalog. After that it should be self explanatory. I found the same part Dave called out for $163.

I had similar problem

Once my car got warm it would start to act up. It was the DIS module. Has been fine since it was replaced.

I order a dis control module from NAPA . It will be in today at 2:30.
Cost $134.00.

I also ordered an MP11 polished blower, and intake plenum polished.

If I cant make it go,I will go for the show, bling, bling.

I would like to thank every one for there time in helping my project along.
