SparkPlugs

After going to the dealer and requesting spark plugs for my '90 SC he produced Autolite AWSF-34 P-P. Trusting that he knew what he was doing (?) I went about my merry way. When I got home I checked my shop manual and it states that I should use AWSF-44 P-P. Is the only difference the heat range? I live in Cali and it may have something to do with smog. Which ones are better for a highly modified motor? I really do not want to have to replace them once I reinstall the motor.

Thanks,

M
