The Atlanta Car show is in 2 weekends, the 14-16 at the Georgia World Congress Center downtown. If anyone is interested in making this a club event please let us know via this thread if you will attend. We'll then coordinate a meeting time and place.

If gas prices dont go down I may have to drive the Accord up there. Its about $1.80 for 93 around here right now! OUCH! That would be around $34.20 to fill 'er up (and if Im not mistaken its near empty right now).
I support the military action and all, but hey wow this gas thing is rough these days. Oil companies suck. Im kinda glad Shell turned me down for an interview.

Damn, I forgot that the Auto Show was this early this year....I will probably go to , but most likely on either the Wednesday or Thursday after work (I am only about 2 miles from the GWCC at work). I will most likely be out of town Friday-Sunday.
One thing to keep in mind is that parking is HELL downtown, and expensive. Were talking at least $6/ car just to park. Maybe more depending on length of time. It may be more feasable to meet somewhere else and maybe carpool to downtown, or dare I say, use MARTA.
We do need to get some good meets planned and get everyone out of hibernation to come out to these meets. The weather is getting warmer and nicer, so let's make this year a good one for the SCCoSE and show some participation!!!

OK, ammend that. I think I can make it on either Saturday or Sunday. Let's get the word out on this, and see if we can make an event of it. I'll put the preliminary info on the website tonight.
We need to settle on a time and day. For me, Saturday afternoon or anytime Sunday should be good. Early saturday may be kinda tricky. Maybe we could incorporate some kind of cruise along with it too.

It looks like we are a go. I'll mass e-mail the group tonight, too. The parking at GWCC can be a real bear unless you get there very early in the day. The subway is $1.25-$1.50 each way I think. That might be the best way. I live about 15 min. from the Doraville station. Parking can be bad at the subway stations too. Maybe rendezvous at an easy to find location first and go from there. What would be a good time to meet? I could park about 4 cars in my driveway if needbe.

I might try to make it. Anyone know about what it cost for a single day pass? I don't think Stef would want to go, but my dad might like to. If I do deside to attend, any you guys from the Chatt area want to convoy down?
Mike, nice rear you have there. ;)
Does anyone have some IRS side gears? After what was posted in the other post about just swaping them out with the soild trac loc I have and not having to worry about shiming the 3.27, I think I might be able to get them in a little quicker.
Also guys be thinking about April, there is that in Bowling Green at Beech Bend.

I will help pay for gas if you wanna do a carpool from chatt.. My ride is down for for a couple of weeks....
let me know whats going on, how much are the tickets to the show?
Mike Puckett
03-06-2003, 11:55 PM
I would think that if we got to the show around noon to 1:00p that everyone would have plenty of time to enjoy all of the show. We could meet for a bite at 11:00a or so. Should we carpool or ride the train? I could park probably 5 cars in my driveway either way. I'm just off of I-85. Robert Dennenberg has a van that may be available. Where to eat would depend how we get downtown. How would you guys best like to do it?
Mike,
It looks like there might be atleast 2 SC coming from this area. I will email Jason and Daivd to see if they would be interested, but since I have seen neither on the site for quite some time, I would have to say no.
Here is a link to the
AJC Auto Show (http://www.ajcautoshow.com/) looks like tickets are
ADULT: $8.00
CHILDREN 6-12: $5.00
CHILDREN UNDER 6: FREE.
Discount coupons available at area Kroger Stores and new car dealers.
We have no Krogers in the Chattanooga area anymore, some one want to check them out about the discount tickets

Are we going SAT or SUN? Rather Sat, wifes birthday is sunday

I'll most likely be ridin the train in from the west siiiiide. It's 1.75 per person each way. For me, parking at Hightower and riding MARTA in to the GWCC station is so much easier than trying to park sown there.
It would be nice, though, if there was some central location where we could all meet and park our cars, so we could go out for a cruise or something after. But since people will be coming from all different directions, kinda makes that hard to do.
As far as eating goes, since it looks like we will probably be meeting downtown, we should probably eat there. CNN center is across the street from GWCC, and they have a food court, and I think there's a sports bar or two in there too. There are some other restaurants there in the area, but I can't think of them right off.
And for any that are planning on driving to downtown and parking there, here is a link to a map from the GWCC's website (www.gwcc.com). http://www.gwcc.com/images/gwccmap.pdf

Not a prob if you want to ride down. Not sure if you got my PM already, but my dad is going, so you might have to take the back seat.
Just let me know either way.

The discount tickets are for Wed, Thurs, and Firday only. I grabbed a stack of them from Kroger the other day before noticing this. Oh well....

Since we are all coming in from different directions we should try to meet at the CNN center around 11:30 or so. I'm going to recommend Jocks & Jills. They're usually pretty good. There is actually lots of parking there and at that time of day we shouldn't have too much trouble. I like to use the decks between the GWCC and the CNN center. I think it's International Blvd. Unless y'all would rather ride the train?
When it comes to Atlanta, bout the only thing I know is how to go through. So I really don't have an ideal on what we might need to do. Just make it easy for this non big city boy to find the place.

Im in about the same boat with Tim. The only time Ive been in Downtown Atlanta (not on the Interstates) was when I was 15. It would be nice if we could all park togethor too. If doing so can provide a better rendevous point, MARTA is fine with me if that, but only if the thing is not overrun with freakos and thugs (Ive never riden it so I wouldnt know).

Would you guys rather meet here at my house? We can get 5 cars in the driveway and 5 people in Roberts van and let him drive downtown or if you want to experience the Atlanta subway we are 15 min from 2 train stations. My house is easy to find right off of I-85 and Jimmy Carter Blvd 2 miles north of I-285 on the northeast corner. Let's get a show of hands here. All in favor say "aye" and I'll e-mail out directions to my house. If so then we should try to be here at 10:30 to 11 so we can be there by 11:30-12.

03-11-2003, 08:20 PM
Ive been to you house before and I'm wondering if it would be easier to try going there than a bunch of us trying to find parking downtown for everybody's cars in the same vicinity. It is you house Mike, so we dont want to impose, because right now it looks like your driveway will likely end up looking a lot like a used car dealership. Is the use of Robert's van a definite or a maybe?
hunter
03-11-2003, 08:49 PM
Well your driveway sounds like the best Idea to me but, Im not driving soooo....whichever is easiest to find sounds like the best plan, not to mention how crowded will It be at CNN because of the show, could take a while to get out of there ....
It would be easier for some us to meet a Mike's and ride the van/take some other cars. On the other hand, we are all eatting at the CNN building, we can just meet at which ever place we meet. Mike, is that 5 more cars or 5 cars total, counting what you have parked now? I would be in favor of meeting and then all going down at one time, but remember what it was like in our first Chattanooga meet trying to get back to my place.
Blah, it really doesn't matter to me. I think Robert, Brad, my dad and myself might just park down around the convension center and meet everyone at the food court.

I can hold 5 more cars than what is there maybe a 6th. Getting to the CNN center is not hard. Go on into downtown on I-75 and as you go past Ga. Tech get in the right hand lane and after you pass North Ave exit on Williams St. Just follow that straight into the downtown area staying in the right hand lane until it sort of dead-ends at a traffic light at International Blvd with a parking deck on the right. There is an alley straight ahead so you want to turn right onto International and follow it until you get to Marietta St. The CNN center is on the left and the GWCC is on the right. If you cross over and go between them there is a parking deck if you go down on the left and also some if you go up on the right in front the GWCC entrance. There are also several street level parking lots on the adjacent corners on Marietta St. The upper deck fills 1st and pretty quickly but the left one can hold lots of cars. That's where I park when I work trade shows there. As far as I know Robert is good on the minivan.

I think I will just meet you guys at the CNN foodcourt at 11:30. I printed out directions to get there and it seems pretty easy.

I wont be able to make it. I have a league event that night and I have already missed two. I don't think I would be back home by 7:30pm.
But Mike let me know the next time you or anyone heads to Silverdollar Raceway. I took a drive out there yesterday just to see where it was and I am only about 20 miles from the place.

I am not 100% sure yet if I will just ride the train, or drive there. Have to see what the GF wants to do.
For those of you that are driving there, just be sure to pay attention to all the one way streets and such on the maps. They can be a bitch.
Jason: you will be coming East on I-20, right? If you want, you can meet up with me somewhere along the way. Villa Rica is right on I-20, about 25 miles inside GA coming from Alabama. If I do decide to take the train, the H.E. Holmes station is right off I-20, at the first exit inside I-285.
Let me know what you think, and we can work out a time and location. That might be easier for you than driving all the way up to Mike's house.

Jason, I agree. Just meet up with Dan on the way, I was going to suggest that earlier. Robert and I will leave my house at 11:00 so if you're coming here, be here by 11:00. You guys from Chattanooga decide how you want to do it and I'll help you out any way I can. I'll send another mass e-mail tonight.

Ok, one more thing...The food court is fairly large. We need to pick a particular spot for meeting. Is there an entrance to the Jocks and Jills from inside the CNN center? I've never really paid attention. If so, shall we meet near there?
Mike Puckett
03-12-2003, 11:21 PM
They have a big red neon sign at the entrance inside the food court and should be easy to find.

Yeah Dan Im comin in on I-20. I'll hook up with you between now and then and we'll set that up. I havent quite figured out exactly what Im driving yet. That 30mpg on 87 grade in the Accord is sure tempting.
It looks like we will meet you guys at the Jock and Jill sports bar around 11:30. We are living this area about 9:15 saturday morning.
SCyall down there.
Dan Lineback
03-14-2003, 06:25 PM
Jason, I think I am just going to drive down there instead of ride Marta, and try to park in the International Plaza parking deck (and hope it's not full!) If you want to meet me, why don't we try for about 10:30 (Eastern time), at the truck stop at exit 26. That's Liberty Road/Villa Rica. You will exit and turn to the right, and it will be there on the right. I'll probably be in my red 91.
From there it will take about 45 minutes to get to the GWCC, plus time to park, etc.
Let me know if this will work.
Jason Parham

OK, I'll see you there. Just be sure to watch out for the toothless hillbillies lurking in the woods. It is Villa Rica after all...[Duelling Banjos plays in the background....]
