I am from CT and wondering the same thing. Want to post a meeting place for this spring? Perhaps somewhere like Mystic? I'm from Middlefield, about 50 minutes from Mystic. I figure thats a half way point. Maybe we could muster some interest with a few posts?

02-07-2002, 10:59 AM
Well....so far, so good.........

02-07-2002, 04:35 PM
Even Foxboro, Providence, or Worcester would be good. Mystic also would be a great place, like Old Mystic Village, or even Foxwoods Casino. Come on people...I know there are more than two Super Coupe owners (members) in New England...let's hear ya so we can organize a meet.

Is that too far for you guys? Maybe get the Pocono Track for a day... :-)

I would so come up to NE for a meet. I was born in Boston, did my fresman year in Worchester and have family on the Cape.

02-07-2002, 11:26 PM
Hey were a party of 3 so far! Worcester could be a good central spot. Where are all the Mass people? Lets go folks!!! Dean, is Pocono a 1/4 mile track? That could be a bunch of fun...

Dean Shirley
02-08-2002, 12:11 AM
I know some people who go up there and race Vette's as well as 'Stangs. Used to live near the track.

02-08-2002, 12:19 AM
I would LOVE to drive just about any distance, it's just that the SC has 120k on an original stock motor. I just blew a power steering line yesterday, and I have an oil leak (think it's the covers). Ya know when you just have a bad feeling about a long trip in a certain car? Don't get me wrong...the car's been REALLY good to me, I'd just be really pissed if I broke down a long way from home. I think a 2-2 1/2 hour drive (each way) is all I could do until I pull the motor from my parts car, rebuild it with all the goodies, and drop it into my 90. Nice to see some replies here though, some good ideas also...lets keep it up!

02-09-2002, 02:48 AM
I agree, i am from Bridgewater MA, we need to put something together in the NE area. All the stuff that goes on his hundreds of miles from me lol. It would be cool if there was something in this area.

02-09-2002, 09:47 PM
im from springfield mass. but im not a member of sccoa but im allways on the bbs board would i still be able to go and were is ponoca track.

Dean Shirley
02-10-2002, 12:43 PM
Right off I-80/I-380/I-84 area in North East PA.

02-10-2002, 11:32 PM
Pocono is definetly a nice idea, and a good one at that, but I'm really leaning towards a central New England location. If we can do this right...who knows, it could turn into something! There's Epping NH also (not too sure on that spelling) I know they have a track of some sort...I think it's a short drag...not sure. Anyone who knows, please tell.

Dean Shirley
02-11-2002, 12:27 AM
I liked the Mystic idea, Worchester is fine. I did my Fresh-year at WPI.

02-12-2002, 07:21 PM
is it important to go where there's a track?

Dean Shirley
02-13-2002, 04:19 PM

02-13-2002, 05:04 PM
actually, it's not important to me either. I have no big desire to "run" my car...it's all stock motorwise, other than the K&N system. What we need here is for people to say if they will show up, so we can at least get a count. At this point I think the venue is secondary, as long as it's in New England. Any opinions on this?

02-13-2002, 07:39 PM
My ride is in 10,000 little pieces until at least April but I would love to participate.

There are car shows at the Pavilion on the beach in Old Lyme, CT maybe 10 min from I-95 during the summer and cruise nights every tuesday at a McDs in Glastonbury, CT when it is warm.

I lease office space in East Hartford, CT and I'm sure we could do a BBQ or something in the parking lot on a Sunday and my partner owns a pretty nice GTX we could trash.

I don't think we need a track, besides is there one in NE?

Just some ideas

02-13-2002, 10:36 PM
CHIT, I am in! I'm in RI and didn't know I had another brother til tonight!! That makes 3 RI'ers!! I'd get together this spring, hopefully my car will be together soon. RI is probably a good place to meet, I don't want to seem to bias, but with MASS and CONN people here ,,,RI is sort of in the middle. Anyone can feel free to mail me if they like!

02-21-2002, 05:17 PM
If we can get 10-15 members to show, we're gonna organize this meet. I'm sure it will grow, as word gets around, and maybe it will become an annual meet. Please let me know if you're in. I'm thinking maybe early to mid summer, on a Sunday....but I'm totally open to ANY suggestions.

02-22-2002, 03:08 PM
Sounds great.....let's pick a date.

July 14th is a Sunday.

02-22-2002, 08:05 PM
July 14 sounds fine to me...is this good for you other people who showed interest...please reply. There's also a guy on the TCCoA board trying to do the same thing. I thought we could see if we could put all our heads together and see what we can come up with. He's lookin at the Berlin Turnpike, in Newington Conn. I guess there's a website for the cruisers around there, its: www.thepike.net (http://www.thepike.net) it might be a good idea to look into this. It looks a bit "ricey"...but please let me know what you think.

02-23-2002, 03:16 PM
Yes....the Pike is great all summer long. It's about a 5 mi stretch of road beginning at a Hooters and ending at a Home Depot with just about everything in between.

On Saturday nights it is loaded with cars. Plenty of rice but probably 50% muscle.

This is an excellent idea.....we could do a BBQ in the afternoon then hit The Pike in the evening. Also lots of inexpensive hotels/motels in the area for those coming from out of town.

Who is the guy at tccoa I don't see anything over there?

Also note if we did this the date would change to Saturday July 13, 2002.

02-23-2002, 05:14 PM
This is the link to the other guy on the TCCoA trying to organize a NE Meet. Go here, then click on "Possible New England Meet" by Jordan Sypek.
forums.tccoa.com/index.ph...ums_events (http://forums.tccoa.com/index.php?bn=tccoaforums_events)

The meets on "The Pike" are on Saturdays, so Saturday July 13 looks good to me. So I guess now we can say that the "possible" meet will take place in Newington, Conn on Saturday July 13, on the Berlin Turnpike. Please leave comments if you have any.

02-23-2002, 05:23 PM
Guida`s in Middlefield a great place and good hot dog`s too. Pete 90 SC Middlefield !!!

02-23-2002, 05:48 PM
I go to Walmart in Wallingford on RT 5. Its a cruse night put on by a Ford car club. Any year or kind of car is welcome, they have a DJ and a good 200 car`s come and it`s on Sat night. My SC has been the only one there for the last five years. It would be a great place to meet, lots of room and nice people. We dont have to plan anything just show up. Pete 90 SC black.

02-23-2002, 07:04 PM
How far would that be from "The Pike" in Newington? We have a pretty solid date and site as of now (see post above) but that could still change. Can you private message me with more info, and your email..I'll keep you posted.

02-23-2002, 07:32 PM
I think the Walmart is actually about 10 mi further down the street on the same road as the Pike. Sounds like we could do the strip for a while then head down and park at Walmart.

Is Guida's the same as Marcus Dairy because I think Marcus Dairy is kind of a biker thing, although Marcus may be out Danbury way?

02-23-2002, 07:51 PM
Guida`s would be a place to have a mini meet. WalMart has a cruise night already. It`s on Sat night and is south of the pike very easy to get to. They have the cruise all summer. Pete 90 SC black

02-24-2002, 11:09 AM
The pike would be good for me too. WalMart was just a suggestion. I will watch the posts for the date. Jeff If you got my E Mail let me know. PETE 90 SC Black

02-24-2002, 11:12 AM
The red SC on Stowe is that yours.

J dot Miller
02-24-2002, 11:28 AM
That sounds like a great idea. If we are going to have a large meet it may be to our best interest to set up an appointment in the parking lot of one of the local establishments.

02-24-2002, 12:48 PM
Pete...I did NOT get any email from you, nor do I have your email address. Mine is (for anyone who may need it): supercoupe-1990@cox.net Pete, what is "Stowe"?

02-24-2002, 07:20 PM
This would be a fun spot to meet. I live about 20 miles away and went a few times last summer. Always a bunch of people racing around up there, plenty of tire smoke too. I'm in on the July 13th proposed date. There's a ton of different places to hang at so we could check out everybodys cars.

02-24-2002, 07:26 PM
I'm from Middlefield as well. Live on Hubbard street. I have a red '89 SC, lowered with Cobra R's on it. Lets have a mini meet this week!

02-24-2002, 08:21 PM
middlefield ct is a good place not to far from me but i might not do anyracing because i got broking motor mounts.but if i am able to get them fixed by then ill be racing.i heard about the pike down their is that illegal drag racing or is their a spot to drag.maybe we could meet at some a little air field that will let us drag their or something i dont know its just a idea.well just keep me posted.

02-24-2002, 08:50 PM
Cspoons, I live at the bottom of Kickapoo RD. I saw your SC at Coginchaug Market. My car is not a daily driver I take my 8 year boy out for a ride once in a while in the winter when its nice. But in the summer we like to go to all the car shows, and cruise nights we can. We go to WalMart in Wallingford the most. I worked for the Middlefield town crew for over 20 years. So I probably know you, or have seen you around I am sure we can get to a meet or car cruise soon with summer coming. PETE 90 SC Black

02-24-2002, 10:14 PM
hey...let me know about this "mini-meet" guys...thanks.
I'm going to post the link for "The Pike" again as I did above. please check it out everybody! thepike.net (http://thepike.net)

02-25-2002, 06:21 PM
You guys are killing me with the mini-meet stuff. SCers getting together and my car in pieces, DAMN!

Anyway I'm definately looking forward to July 13.

02-25-2002, 09:38 PM
Hi Brian we met briefly 3-4 years ago at the toy run in Manchester. I hope this mini meet gets together too, and it will be warm this time. But this year winter might wait for July. My car is the same except for a new transmission. What pieces is your car in? It looks like we could have at least four cars for a mini meet. I am waiting to see how the pike meet works out first. If it does not I like going to WalMart in Wallingford. They have lots of room, a DJ and the cops don`t bother you. Because WalMart supports the car show, and its on saturday night. Let me know whats going on I am ready, PETE 90 SC Black

02-25-2002, 11:03 PM
Hey Pete good to here from you.

I have the block and heads at a shop for the fancy rebuild and PP also I've taken the big plunge for ALL the goodies. Only problem is the motor shop is giving me a great price (friend of my fathers) and so I have to be a little patient time wise. He's had my motor since Jan and I won't see it until April.

I am also planning on some shiny new paint but really want to get the mech. work complete before I do that.

I look forward to seeing you again and definately plan on getting to some meets this summer, hope the family is well

I will keep everyone posted as to ANY changes, links, and the finalized time, and place. So far, it's Saturday, July 13, 2002 @ 3pm on, or near "The Pike" in Newington, Conn, with the possibility of meeting earlier in the same vicinity (location TBA) for those who wish to do so. Hope to see ya there!!! :) :)

I may attempt to set up an SCCoA meet for this summer, somewhere in RI, hopefully at Quonset Pt, and hopefully the track will be available to us. As of now, I am giving up any responsibility of the July 13th meet at The Pike in Newington Conn. If you are still interested in attending that meet, please visit the TCCoA board, and email Jordan Sypek. Please go to the link below:

Below is a pasting of the latest post about the meet, taken from the TCCoA board:

err guys... i know its a few months from now, but because of THE PIKE and its popularity, of course the po po got some issues... well I read this in the paper today... and it doesn't seem like good news....
www.zwire.com/site/news.c...0110&rfi=6 (http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=3867974&BRD=1641&PAG=461&dept_id=10110&rfi=6)

no doubt about it the cops are trying to kill the cruise scene because of irresposible people, but i cant talk, ive dragged a few people myself out there... This wont effect out meeting spot at Tripledigitmotorsports... but it might effect the pike cruising itself... im going to half to wait a bit and see how the scene is out there, with all this going down, hopefully we dont have to cancel our meet... or maybe we can come up with another spot to meet up... Im sure that can be arranged, any feedback is wanted... thanks guys.. i hope all goes well....

__________________________________________________ __

I truely hope all goes well with this meet, but I thought if you had planned on attending, you would want to know what's goin on. I'll update again when I hear more.

I figured i will keep everyone up to date on anything that happens out there, just so you can get an idea of what it will be like....
I will continue to add updates as they are posted on the TCCoA board.
