factory paint process?

Clearcoat?

The name says it all. A clear "coat" on the base color. The clearcoat option was about $100 more (?? it's been 13 yrs). I bought mine with Silver Clearcoat.

hello. about your paint. it will be a base coat / clear coat system. all auto manufacturers started this process in 1988 in accordance to meet EPA regulations . the difference between this is it is a 2 step process. you apply the color, then the clear . single stage paint is just that , "spray it how you want it to look" since it is a 1 step formula you spray it and it dries to a gloss. this is a very inferior paint Compared to BC/CC system . if your Re-painting your car Do not go with a single stage paint . you will be very dissapointed , it will loose all its luster in about a year and it is very hard to maintain. BC/CC is better, you get years of glossy paint , and it holds up to the elements very well .

The colors I see listed for 89 Super Coupe are:

Black (1C)
Bright Red (Vermillon) (21)
Oxford White (9L)
Light Titanium Clearcoat Metallic (11)
Twilight Blue Clearcoat Metallic (7F)

Only the last two were clearcoated at additional cost.
