I have a 89 SC with jbl premium sound tape deck i have a aftermarket jbl 12 inch sub running off the stock amp. My problem is it went from working fine to practically cutting out on bumps in the road. to only the sub working to nothing. I pulled it out and i saw there were some frayed wires so i fixed them and the antenna wire was cut. I fixed the antenna wire and it worked for 5minutes. I checked the amp connections and they seemed to be connected fine
anyone have any idea on whats goen on
thanks,
Joel

Yes you think it is a bad ground,
I was hoping this for my 1990SC, too.
It ends up being the capacitors in these radios are bad,
and these radios have a heat disipation problem.
Radio guys will tell you this radio was never designed right. It's time to upgrade. Repairing these radios is expensive.

After replacing the radio 4 times, the radio
guy sold me one from a newer Taurus or Explorer that fit
beautifully. The display is digital. All controls are digital.
And wiring was compatible with the CD player. My CD player
now news to be replaced for 3rd time.

ya the guy told me they put the amp upside down so the heat comes right back into the amp and messes it up
i was hoping someone could tell me something like just lower the amp and u r fine or something like that
but you said if i get another radio it will last for a little bit?
