Hello,
I have searched and read many of the discussions regarding MAF housings, sampling tubes, etc and would appreciate a little nudge in buying the correct MAF for my application.
I know that in theory the C&L (Vortech) MAF with the correct sampling tube will allow the EEC to be "tricked" to work with larger injectors for the 73mm and 76mm, but through summit I have located a nice 80mm for $149 that looks like it would do the trick and wondered if I could just order that and get away with it.
Well, I would like to pick the correct MAF/Tube for my application as well as tune the EEC Tuner to match so that in case the EEC Tuner craps out I can rely on the sampling tube to work somewhat correctly and get my butt home to my spare EEC Tuner.
Anyhow, I have been staring at the Vortech 80mm MAF on Summit Racing (Part# VOR-8A102-022) and was wondering if this would work in the translation or would I need a different tune.
I know it is listed for a 38# Mustang application, but I am not sure what that translates into for an SC V-6 application. I.E. 24lb = 36#, etc.
I was tempted to order it to see if it had the same removable tube as the C&L branded versions. As far as I can remember, C&L manufactures them for Vortech or the other way around. I remember my C&L with a Vortech stamp on the bottom.
At any rate, the 80mm Vortech is 149.99 and can be returned through summit if anything. I have looked at a closeup of the same unit on EBAY and it looks like the screw exists in the top for removal of the tube. The 80mm C&L is listed for $167 or something and Summit just seems like a safer buy.
Any input would be great..
Thanks
