i want to get a new nice intercooler. but im deathly afraid of blowing a head gasket before i do exhaust. do i have to worry about a head gasket or should i do exhaust first? i do have cut off mufflers but thats it for now. i would do exhasut but high flow cats seem to be a lot of money. thanks for the help. steve.

Well, it is always a good idea to do exhuast first, but a better IC is only going to help your hg's. It will reduce pressure and help aliavete the strain on your hg's.

If you've removed the muffler & stock resonator, then you have already eliminated one of the most signficant sources of backpressure. A new intercooler shouldn't hurt anything from increased flow, especially if your intake is mostly stock.

I don't know how many upgraded replacement intercoolers are available for these cars, though.
