power steering pump locked up at 6,000 rpm

pump locked up tore belt to shreds, seems the hose gave way I was racing at night, and heard a whinning noise, hose sprung a leak I didnt see the smoke comming from under car, I figured id go home and add fluid must be low well on the way home the same guy I raced came up to me again I figured what the hell so we went again I shifted into third gear at 6,000 rpm, and the belt squealed the motor lost major power, and boom belt tears off then lots of power. hell its impressive with out the ps pump and alt + water pump.. what I need to know is will the pumps used on explorers taurus, lx tbirds work if I swap pulleys????

You're lucky. One of my cars burned to the ground when the power steering line broke and sprayed PS fluid on the header.
 
they should all work depending on the reservoir return nipple location(or swap reservoirs). If its not a H.O pump it will have lack of assist at lower RPMs, swapping the valve and spring(from SC) MIGHT work if the pump is from a low ratio rack.
