Running hot during day, cool at night ?

I think I may have a sensor issue;

During the day lately the car runs hot and I have to do the a/c on/of trick to kick the fan on.

At night the car is fine? (no mod to motor and hg's changed 25k ago)

Do I have a sensor problem?

There are a number of possibilities, but more detail is necessary. Where exactly on the gauge is your needle during the day when the fan activates? Where when the fan deactivates? And at night?

Have you noticed anything else unusual, like fluid loss, power loss, MPG loss?

It is normal for the needle to move all the way to the M of NORM before the fan activates to bring it back down between R & M.

Also, check your coolant level, radiator cap, & overflow hose for blockage. Perhaps you've air in the system.

more detail

During the day;

Manually kick fan using a/c. Temp goes back to usual setting and fan automatically kicks off. Noticed oil pressure gauge does drop and return.

At night; run just fine.

Thermostat new, bleed air out, no leaks or lost fuilds. New 16lbs cap. No extra oil on stick either. I have alot of heat with heat set on the climate control.

Belts good, water pump 55K old.

Car has 150+K miles on her, thus thinking a sensor.
