As many of you know we dont have a location for the 2002 National. With most other clubs, the national meet/show is always figured out 1,2 or sometimes 3 years in advance. Were a little behind. No big deal. The first thing we need to figure out is where do we want to hold the event, the next thing is who is going to be the local person incharge of things (getting a hotel, track, dyno stuff like that) and lastly when are we going to do it? The 2 big things is where and when.
Please reply with a location and a reason why it would be a good place to hold the event, dont just say "caus its like 3 min from my house" give a real reason.
Second, a weekend that would be good.
Third, would you be interested in being the local person who would be in charge of getting stuff planned and put together.
(ill respond later)

Vic,
I will have a poll up so people can vote on this location issue. as for when i think the same weekend next year would be good, wasn't it labor day weekend? Anyways, I should have that up today or in the next few days. I will then tally the votes and post the results. I think Thanksgiving is going to be the dead line for the voting.
And always we need to have a local person(s) in the town that is choosen to help coordinate the event. After we decide what town hopefully some people will step up and help with the event as Jason Marsh and others from the OKC area did this year.
This event is only as good as the people that are involved, so if it is to continue to succeed and grow as a national event then we need people to take pride in the event, and so far that looks like what is happening!!!
For those of you that have not pre-registered yet, the form is on the MN-12 Nationals Website. As soon as we have the location of the event down, then I send out emails requesting the pre-registration fee of $10. For those that wait till the event it will be $20 at the door. The fees will help pay for events at the meet, as before we are not looking to make any money of the meet, just to supply you( MN-12 community) with a good time!

how about terre haute indiana?
its in southern indiana, and near illinois, and it has a 1/4 mile track, and is right off of I70. its also only about a hr and a half shot to indy if anyone wanted to go visit anything there.
(and its less than an hr from me  but thats not the important thing)

Who decided this list? Lots of others were talked about but never made the list. Why not? Online polls like that are NO GOOD! I could vote all day long if I wanted. You're not going to get an honest vote. Do it like I said on the other BBS, have all the votes sent by email and tally them.

For those of you who don't know, there IS a half of a continent east of the Mississippi river.
How about Niagara Falls, Ontario? Nice tourist spot, lots of accomodation, Cayuga Dragway is one hour drive west.
Alright, howabout Cleveland/Lorain Ohio where the Thunderbirds and Cougars were made?

As for the multiple votes question, I have control over that.
And people shouldn't do that anyway, it's just not right.
As for the list that was made. It was complied from the post I made right after the 1st Nationals was over.
In all honesty, if the meet isn't near you this upcoming year there is a good chance it will be the following year. The meet will always be in a new town, or for awhile at least. The key is to spread the meet out across America( and Canada as well! Wouls love to have one up there sometime.) so that eventually everyone has a chance to go regradless of where they live.
The reason this poll is taking place now, is because we need to get things rollin! Even though the 1st meet was great, it could have been better given more time and planning. I was scramblin to get sponsors for the meet and probably could have had a lot more given a couple extra months. The number of people attending probably would have increased as well if the word got out sooner for the event, granted some of us knew of it all along, but there were many( mostly the MARKVIII's and non-SC/XR7) that were unaware of the event up till about a month prior. As someone mentioned before most national meets are decided years in advance. Maybe for the next couple of meets, 2003, 2004 and so on, will be decided in advance, but for the 2002 I wanteed the people to decide instead of one of the coordinators to decide.
I hope this clears up the thinking behind the way the meet is being decided this year, it may change for the upcoming years depending on how people react to this one.

I agree. People shouldn't do it anyway. But they will try.
Just curious, you said you have control over multiple entries. How?
Thanks,
Dale
