Kurt k If you know what you want to do to fix your problem, and
it involves welding.I will weld it for you.I am on I-70 by ST ELMO,IL.

I appreciate the offer, but I currently can't drive the car anywhere and would prefer to do any welding before I install the engine. I've got a mig welder, but since I don't have a lot of welding experience, I think it would be better having somone else do it. I'm almost positive that this will be inaccessible once the engine is installed.

Any suggestions for prep work and heat settings? It was suggested that I should drill small holes on either end of the crack for stress relief.

Definitely a crack, and definitely inaccessible with the engine in place.

One point though. There's probably insulation on the other side of that. It would be a VERY good idea to clear it away as much as possible and you'd still want someone on fire watch.

That may be a good idea to drill two small holes.Fill those first,
then do the center. looks like you & the sc will not be at MAR next week.
My welding offer was for subframe connectors.

Thanks for the heads up on the fire watch...shows how much welding I have done.

I might end up leaving the crack for now and maybe adding some extra support in the future (I might hit you up Randy). I need to get the engine in so I can work out all of the bugs before Carlisle.
