I have a stupid question about computers. What is the difference between what Ford calls a P.C.M. (powertrain control module) and a E.E.C. which I believe stands for Electronic engine control?

Ford calls all OBD2/EEC V (NEW STUFF) P.C.M or powertrain control modules.

They call all OBD1 (OLD STUFF) E.E.C IV
Electronic Engine Control....

Generally EEC IV controls just the engine.
EECV\OBD2 Control engine/ tranny. OBD2 is less forgiving than EEC IV.

All SC were EEC IV

Good Luck
