What in the heck is General Franks doing outside without his cover. Jeez you would think the guy would set a military bearing example.

Yeah! And you would also think he would carefully choose who he took pictures with! LOL!
:D

lol seeing as he has 4 shiny stars, i guess he can do pretty much as he pleases...Im not gonna call him on it

Pretty Weak IMO...

I dig Tommy Franks, but the no cover outdoors is unsat...His utilities look like he slept in them as well...I would go out on a limb and claim that no Marine Corps General would be caught witout a cover outdoors. In all the years of service I have seen I never once have seen such an example...Some ate up Army Dog is very disappointed about now...

I'm not gonna call him on it either. Military bearing has zip to do with it. It was probably off the cuff picture so WTF? And what does it really matter?

And those of you that are so quick to point out faults...What qualifies you to do so? I done 20 in the AF, so I can make my judgements.

And that guys ex's uniform looks like shat, and she should be called on it. As an NCO she knows better. Everyone else looks good, even the General.

Hmmmm...

Well it did not take me twenty years to figure out that you NEVER take your @SS outside without a cover on your grape, done, enuf said, no excuses...Pretty simple, on the cuff off the cuff, whatever...Outside without a cover on is pretty much a no no in any branch of the service. I bet Tommy is gettin' alotta $h!T for it by his peers as well...

Hey guys, easy up!

The guy had been indoors for months. He was trying to get a few rays! :p

BTW: Cute lady man. ;)

cover

No Cover = No Hat.
I was in for 6 years and have no problem with him not wearing a cover. I figure there is a time and a place. And he is the one that desides that. IMO

Well lets see..Who makes these rules....And why...Well.....I'd say the top dogs make the rules...Why???...SO overzealous non disciplined brats learn to behave and become obedient lil soldiers.....Just my take..But what would I know hehe

the reason that he has no cover on is so he doesn't have to salute when he is in the area. His Aid (usually a Major or LtCol ) will do that for him...

not sure who the other solider is .. but it looks like someone ironed there uniform with sticken hot rock

Not knowing a lot about arm rules and regs, infact, I just had to guess about the "cover" thing, but guess correctly, I do have one question. The man standing just behind General Franks, with the black beanie on....is that this guy? :)

He is freakin everywhere!

I don't REALLY care if he didnt have his cover on, I was just making a point.

I've done 6 years active duty Navy, and that's long enough to know that even the simplest rules need to be followed, and that you lead by example.

I've been out 20 years so it could've been changed but I'm pretty sure the AR stated general officers can do pretty much as they please with their uniforms. I'm on the he's wrong side but who ami I to tell him? He's been working a lot of hours lately.... No enlisted man pays a heck of a lot of attention to officers anyway, they're there to do paperwork and until recently to pose for the cameras and escort visiting VIPs around. NCOs are for really getting anything done.

Just as an aside I've been working around the Navy for most of those 20 years and have never seen any evidence Navy was a military service, *armed* service yes, but not military. Ever seen a group of sailors trying to march after they left boot? The Marines can back me up here...

I second that... i remember when i was a young lcpl.. i was having to stand in a formation with some navey guys while on ship .. and I tell you .. it was the most un hearting thing i have ever had to do while on board. They had no idea what standing at attention means.... that is unless they are in trouble...
