'94 & up Mustang block really an SC?

I saw this posted on a website.

"However, the blocks used in the 1994-up 3.8 Mustangs are taken directly from the Super Coupe; that means they're much thicker and stronger. So if you need a block, this is the one to get."

Is this true?

I'm with Scott. I think it was '98 when the 'regular' 3.8 was upgraded. I've heard varying reports of how heavy it was made, but I still think the SC block is the best of the breed.

In addition to the article in the literature section there's an article from a rebuilder's magazine posted here http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ar/ar90134.htm that talks about the different 3.8s. fwiw....

There was also a lot of discussion at v6power.net on the different blocks if I recall....

All in all, I think if I was going to use a roots blower I wouldn't look for anything that didn't have SC on the casting.

As far as I can tell...

that article never mentions the SC motor.

"supposed to be equivalent in strength"? I'd need to see the #'s before I drop one in an SC, especially with any real mod's.

Hey, it's only worth .02. ;)
