Can the EGR be eliminated on SC's that have it??

I have an 89 SC. I recently got the code 31 and 34, indicating a possible problem with the EGR valve or related components.

I have read on this site that some cars did not have the EGR valve from the factory, AOD equipped cars I think. Is there a way I can elimnate the EGR from my car? It is not the cost of repairing whatever the problem might be that bothers me, it is the amount of crap that you have to go through just to get the valve out that bothers me the most.

If I do remove it, the PFE sensor, and plug the EGR tube and related vacuum lines, what adverse effects could become of this? What can I do?

Thanks

Your Nox emissions will go up. The AOD's use 3-way cats to control Nox. 5 speeds use 2-way cats and the EGR.
