Cam shaft question

I was wondering if the 3.8 SC has the spring and button on the front of the camshaft. When I tore my engine down I don't remember taking the spring and button off the front of the cam.
The repair manual shows that the 3.8 has it, but does the 3.8 SC.

I think that mine just had a bolt in the front of the cam to hold the syncronizer gear and the timing gear in place.

Thanks

No spring and button on the SC. Your manual must be pretty old, my 3.8 liter 1983 Mustang has a flat tappet hydraulic cam and it uses the spring and button. The SC will be cam, retainer, spacer (where a balance shaft gear would be on a normal 3.8), timing gear, syncro gear, and bolt.

My manual covers the Thunderbird and Cougar from 89 to 93.
Kinda makes you wonder why they would put that in the manual if it doesn't pertain to the years specified in the manual. Of course it is a Chilton manual and I have found several things wrong in it. Makes you wonder how they stay in business if they are printing the wrong stuff in there manuals.
