My car needs the knock sensor replaced. how hard of a job is this, and how expensive?

an i allright to drive with a bad knock sensor, or should i replace it immediately?

It's a pretty straight forward job. It is located on the passenger side of the block down by the motor mount. There is a large metal shield around it. Should take about an hour if you fall asleep under the car for 45 minutes :) Make sure you get the correct part number. Ford changed the knock sensors around a bit and I believe to use the only one available you need an adapter that screws into the existing hole (somebody back me up on this). I cannot remember all of the details. You may or may not have to take the current adapter out of the block and install a new one. If so have a drip pan ready as all of the coolant is going to come pouring out of the block. I would stay out of the boost until you can get it replaced just to be safe.
