Plastic Balancer Cover

So while tearing out parts getting ready to pull my motor, I notice that the cover for the balancer is missing, or at least the top half of it is. My question to all those that read this is: Can the car be put back together without the cover with no bad side effects. I know that the cover also protects the crank sensor, so this is why I'm kinda wondering.

If I do need it, does anyone have an extra cover (top and bottom) they'd be willing to sell?????

It's not necessary to run but it keeps the crank sensor assembly clean and dry. I bought one, top and bottom, over the counter for not much money but there's no guaranty it's still availiable. I didn't pay much for it, less than $20 I think. It's been a while.

No cover on mine for 1-1/2 years..no problem except at car wash with the bottom blaster thingy. Stumbles and stalls sometimes when dripping wet, no problem if engine is running.
