I was going out to my car today and I noticed that there was a huge puddle running down my driveway. For some reason my 1.5 yr. old rad. sprung a leak. The car ran warmer than I liked with the stock rad. What would be the best replacement if u didnt want stock. And where are the best deals to buy one.

Thanks
Doug

I took mine in and had it recored replacing the original 2 row core with a four row high effeciency core. Around $300 but should really help the cooling.

There is a Griffen Aluminum replacement radiator that is the best, but it is also very expensive. ($725 at www.supercoupeperformance.com)

Like Wezar said, you can get yours recored with a more efficient unit for a much lower price. Your 89 should have the Copper Radiator so it is very repairable, compared to the later models with the plastic side tanks.

If you go straight to Griffin if that is what you want you can get it for $615.83. Skip the Bill E. 15% mark up. Here is the e-mail that I got when I was looking around.

Dear Scott,
Thank you for inquiring with Griffin. We make an all aluminum
replacement radiator for your 94 T-Bird. The best replacement would be made with 2 Rows 1.25 inch tube size, this will keep your engine cool and allow you to cruise town on the hottest summer day.
Every component used in a Griffin Radiator is manufactured in our facility. Griffin has 3 different size tubes and custom fin designs to make the core of the radiator specific to your performance requirements. The tanks are die formed with ribs to provide added strength for high-pressure use. All our cores are furnace brazed and contain magnesium for strength and long life. Griffin is the only custom aluminum radiator manufacturer in the country and offers you the quality and performance you expect.
This radiator would bolt directly into the existing core support
and requires no modification. The retail cost for this radiator is
$724.50, however, I can offer you a 15% discount by ordering over the internet. Your cost would be $615.83 plus shipping. If I can assist you further please e-mail back.
Again, Thank you for considering Griffin for your cooling needs.
Sincerely,
Linda

Wow, Griffin's prices have really gone up in the last few years. I paid a lot less than that. Were those prices for the automatic or 5spd version? The automatic version has a tranny cooler, but costs $100 more. Not worth it IMHO, when you can get a much better tranny cooler for $50.

The $615 price is for the 5-speed radiator.

That is alot for an aluminum radiator. But if thats what it take to keep cool then I guess its the price u got to pay. I found a place I can buy a stock rad. for $179.00. Is that a good price. I've seen them for more that $300 on other sites. So Im stayin with stock

Stock is insufficient for much power above stock power amounts. It is only a dual row radiator. A good radiator shop can put a 3 or 4 row core in our radiator for not much more than the 2 row core. IF you don't go aluminum, then the upgraded core is the way to do it if you have, or plan on adding more horsepower.

I got a replacement radiator designed like the 89 copper unit.

The entire radiator is copper, just like the originals and it was like $150 with a lifetime warranty....

Actually, it may have been cheaper, but I cannot remember..

Theres one of these warehouses here in my hometown of Fresno California, they've got a radiator for the supercoupe(s) mine are both 94's and they want $169.00 for an all metal radiator (you got me on the all metal radiator) you need your original SC brackets to complete install. if you do order ask if its diffrerent for auto's or 5 spd's as it doesnt say nothing about it.

I could have bought a new Radiator from Radiatorexpress.com and picked it up local for around $190 with tax.

Not that much more for a top quality, four row high effeciency recore installed at a respected shop. I don't know how much better it will cool but it is supposed to be at least 50%. Seems like cheap insurance. I would like the Griffin but its too spendy for me at this time.
