Anyone using slicks on their SC that can give me any idea what size tire they used, along with what size rim? Assume the car is stock height. Thanks for any info you might have.

Chris,
I have a set of Mickey Thompson ET streets 26" X 11.5" x 16" squeazed onto stock SC wheels. If doing it again I would go with the 10.5" width instead for a better fit on the rims.

I have a set of 255/50/16 BFGoodrich drag radials. $320 shipped from Jegs. I think they look pretty good, and great traction.
Part # 131-82503 $146.99 each.

I've got a set of the Mickey Thompson 26/10.5/16 Big End series E/T Streets and they fit on stock rims Ok. At the 15 psi pressure I run the outer 1/8" doesn't touch and I'd run a little less pressure but sometimes they're a bit squirrely after the 1/8 mi pole and they can be a handful. The Big End street slicks, made for the Japanese market, are available from Florida Performance for $99 each. I bought mine from their trailer at one of the MOPAR meets at Atlanta Dragway last year. I've also got a set of 255/50/16 BFG Drag radials I'm trying to sell. With the 5 spd I had trouble getting them to hook but they're nice and stable all the way down the strip.

Actually, I'm about to lose another 30# or so. My racing seats are in and as soon as I've got them fabricated to the seat racks I'll put them in. More on that later when they're installed. I've gutted the interior of nearly everything that'll come out. It's a mere shell of it's former self. I weighed it on the scale at SilverDollar Raceway without me in it. As for the BFG's e-mail me for all the details. My e-mail's on my member page.

I also have a 5 speed, and you said yours didn;t want to hook up with those. Maybe mine will do the same thing. I do have S/T springs which are very stiff and poly diff bushings and poly IRC bushings, so that might help it out some...also 3.27 rear end instead of 3.55. Let me know what you thing...i'm only looking to spend like $100 for a set.

Mine are mounted and balanced on XR7 rims and I want to sell them complete. I also want a little more that $100 as they have hundreds of runs in them still. The hook up problem could just be me, too.

With a little practice you can cut good 60fts with BFG's. My best was 1.84 while getting some wheelspin. First time at a good track I broke an axle and I haven't run since, so I can't say what they were actually capable of.

Dave,
What kind of HP was your car pushing when you cut those 60FT times on the BFGs?

Ouch, now I'm glad we went with the Nittos. :-) If you're spinning BFGs with 300HP, I'd hate to see what they do with 400+ HP. :-)

Well, since no one here has over 400rwhp, then I guess we really aren't the people to ask, now are we? For what it is worth Chris runs BFGs in his 11 sec coupe. Don't expect your Nittos to do as well. :)

Dave is correct as usual, last time at the track Chris got a 1.69 60ft. with BFGs and Todd and Michelle both got 1.7s with their BFGs.
Nitto drag radials are more of a street tire and won't grip nearly as good as the BFGs or Mickey Thompsons do.

If doing it again I would go with the 10.5" width instead for a better fit on the rims I tried to tell you that when you asked me what I was running :p
Doesn't Hoosier have a 27" tall tire now for 16" wheels?

You think the BFGs stick better than the Nittos? Everything I've heard, and people I've spoken to say the opposite. Personally, I'd like to use Mickey's, but they're a bit cost prohibitive. Guess we'll know soon enough. :-)

Yes, they stick much better than the Nittos. Ask Todd Jelle what he thinks...he has both tires.

Nittos blow at the track. I used mine all of 10 passes before I sold them to a friend with a Mustang.
