AC Compressor Deletion

Hello all,

I have a question regarding a setup without the AC compressor. Is there a way of installing a free-running pulley in its place? My compressor is going out, and I don't feel like replacing it. Is it more cost effective to replace or delete the AC compressor? Thanks for your time.

Most cost effective is to simply unplug it. Try this for yourself: Take the belts off. then by hand spin all the loose pulleys to see what kind of friction they have. Then compare it with the A/C compressor pulley. You shouldn't notice any difference. The compressor only generates drag when the clutch is engaged which is when you have either the A/C or defrost running. If you unplug it, you're assured that it won't come on.
