I went to a computer diagnostics class for auto techs this evening where I met several other local shop techs and owners. Me and this other guy are there early and start talking. Turns out he also owns a local racing shop where he does engine machine and building, computer tuning, race part sales etc. He races circle track modifieds. I grab the lap top and start going over my tuner file asking his advice (to see if he knew anything). It seemed I knew as much as him at least but he was a nice guy and by no means a dummy.
Well he was telling me and the other guys about the truck he showed up in, mid-nineties Ford crew cab dually with a 540 something CID big block stroker, does 7's in the eigth mile, full roller, spins it up to 7 grand, claims over 550 HP. He said he goes out and finds guys like me who think they have a fast street car and blows them away for the fun of it on weekends.
So when we take off he's on the main street waiting for me and starts tail grabbing. I'm trying like hell to get my Valintine One cord to stay in the freakin plug with a busted clip. I'm sure I'm going to end up in jail if I have to dust this guy, there's a lot of cops in Conroe Texas just lurking in the shadows off the freeway waiting to bust a-holes like us who put the public in danger.
So I turned onto the feeder and gave it a little boost to let him know that if he's gonna bring it he better give it all he's got. I finally got the damn detector on just in time. He catches up and starts blipping the throttle so I put it into third at about 45. He takes off faster than any 7,000 pound truck should only to see my tailights in short order. I didn't make him look silly but I definately handed him his a$$ without much ado-LOL. About 2-3 lengths before I needed forth so I just let off and we shut em down before we ran into any other traffic.
Can't wait to see what he says tommorrow, after all he "used to have the fastest GN on the east coast"
232 vs. 540
David vs. Goliath, same story, same ending.
Best thing is I just broke my knock sensor and pulled a lot of timing out at WOT while I'm waiting for the new one, and he knows that, I told him earlyer. I'm set on live, not kill.
