how well do super coupes do on roll ons or high end races? what do you think they could beat stock and modded?

mine always kicked but on highway races.
Coming out of the hole with this big boat is one thing, but let rip from a roll and look out. Take them all on and be careful, it is very very dangerous. I once came up onto traffic at 140MPH plus, I was in the fast lane and there was a big line of cars going 60 in the right lane. I has to slow down real fast. Did you ever hear traffic going by you at 140. Scary, if one person would have changed lanes we would have been dead.

I had 3:08's in my 5 speed so it went a little faster than what a stock SC can do with the 2:73's but the 140 range is easy to hit without mods.

1badsc - How do you like your 3.08's, I have a rear end getting re done for my car right now and am putting 3.08's in it. Currently I have 3.27's but too much shifting. Eric

I love them. They pull really hard and you can still have a real nice top speed and great acceleration, good gas mileage, and a whole lot less shifting. I like these a lot better than the 3:55's I had,

Ta's and Camaros will take you on the top end if your unmodded.
Against just about everything else (except 100 grand sport cars) all you have to do is stomp it and watch them disappear in your rear view mirror.

1998 and Newer TA's and Camaros are going to eat you alive in the Top End as well, Camaro Drag limited to 158 (stock) and the Trans Am Goverend to 163 (stock).

supercoupes are considerable quicker from a roll than from a dead stop. but keep in mind that you are still in a 3800 lb. v6 and if your car is stock or mostly stock runs low 15s/high to mid 14s meaning that most cars(mustangs, gtps etc.) will still have an advantage.

in a high speed race, esp from a roll sc and the blown XR-7's have a huge advantage over most cars because of their good Drag Coeficients(sp?) good horsepower and monster Torque. the fact that it weighs 2 tons has hardly anything to do with top speed when you relly get going (130+), it's all about how the car cuts through the air.
My buddy used to have a 2001 black, 4door, GTP That would consistently take me in the 1/4 by about 1.5~2 cars, but couldnt cut it on top end. His HUD would read 137 and thats when the car would basically stop acelerating, even though it was still trying, so i would give him a little wave as i sailed by! :D

yeah, that is something that a lot of people don't understand. Weight has nothing to do with top speed, just acceleration.

well my governer is still set at 127 so unfortunately i haven't had the chance to top it out. but from my own experiences from a roll(60-125) i got owned by: my friends 94 mustang gt(mods: cai, cat back exhaust) my friends 95 mustang gt(mods: trickflow intake, 3.73s, explorer heads) my friends gtp(mods cai, exhaust, pulley).
my car is stock(except for magnecor plug wires). is there something really wrong with my car that i should not have been able to smoke these cars that wasted me? no. i own a 1995 v6 sc'd and intercooled automatic tbird.
i'm not trying to come off as a prick, because i love my sc. but i guess i dont have the mentality that..... with the exception of LS1s just about the only cars that could beat me from a roll would be a supercar costing more than 100k. i understand the fact that our cars have a much better drag coefficient and that... weight barely has anything to do when you are traveling at a top speed. but i'm just saying that an un modified or slightly modified sc will not "take just about anything on the road(except for 100k sports cars)."
let the flaming begin.

I have beaten many of the cars you listed from a roll. However, I was owned by some of the same cars that I beat. I for one could never even come close to keeping up with my one buddies Trans Am, he made my car look like a 3 cyl metro. both from a stop and from a roll. it was sick.

Not weight, mass. Regardless of what speed you are moving at, our cars still contain a lot of mass, and the energy required to acclerate that mass is not trivial. So while our cars may do well for a top speed, we could run out of room as we try to gain car lengths on that lighter car with similar power that passed us.
Our advantage with most cars is the stock gearing puts us not far from our torque peaks in 4th and 5th gear. But those of you that swapped out gears for better hole shots sacrificed your top speed for glory in the 1/4 mile.

Not mine, I went with 3:08's, still have good top speed, if not better than what I did with 2:73's, we all know the sc is not going to redline in fifth with 2:73's.

With the car vibrating a little (that scared me) I chased down a C5 once for the hell of it.
The guy was not moving away as fast as I thought he would after 110 and he gave a short time after I pegged 140, but I kept the foot on the floor for a good 30 seconds after I passed his paranoid ***.
If you're gonna die, might as well make a huge dent in something.
BTW...The EEC Tuner is on it and the speed limiters are off...
I'm all about top end speed. My goal with my 93 and 94 is to chase down and suprise the hell out of something like a 911, Viper (older one...i aint dreamin now), Lotus, etc.
The stock 3:31 gear in the 94 is a little high, but I am almost certain my 93 (CMRE Stage 1.5 / ArtCarr AOD) is 3.08

The only two cars that I have ever had problems with (got owned by) on the freeway were a 2000 TA WS6 who left me standing still from 90, and a CLK 430 who I played with all the way across the state on I-94. He was riding behind me while I was dodging traffic looking for the opening, and when we would hit it, foot to the floor, till we got to the next line of cars. Once we had a good opening, it was after I let him lead, I was right behind him when we got clear, we let loose, and I was just left in the dust.
Other than those two situations, the SC has held it's own fairly well on the freeway.

I was playing w/ two vettes on the way to WFC6 last weekend. This was on I-80 in Chicago. A black C5 and a maroon C4 go hauling *** by. So I give chase and at around 120 I catch up. I keep on it go to the right lane and fly by them both they catch up a little way down the road. The guy in the black C5 gives thumbs up and exits.
I keep playing with the C4 at speeds over 100 mph. I get off for gas and food, he follows. Comes up next to me at about 35 mph on a two lane road, kicks it down and I drop my SC to second and stand on it, he got the jump, I pulled from his door handle till he was at my mirror, and then going into third he stayed at my mirror. Then I had to SLAM on the brakes cuz of a car in front of me. He looks over and has that Shocked look on his face. Had a hot chick with him, I had my girlfriend. I roll the window down and say "V6" he closes his eyes and shakes his head. Then I turn off for gas, he nails it and takes off again.
My girlfriend couldn't believe I just pulled on a Vette. Neither could I. That made my day. I don't know if it was a manual or auto, but it kicked down smooth so I'm guess auto. This wasn't a cross-fire injection one either. I'm guessing 94-95 Vette, it had the square lights, and definately was an LT-1.
Had we not ran into traffic I'm sure he'd have walked away. But he doesn't need to know that :D

many of those C-4's are junk, turning in very crappy times. But if it was a 94-95 than that is pretty good. I hung with a C-5 above 120. He was still ahead but not by a lot. He was surprised to say the least. My best though, was losing to an incredible looking blonde chick in her Mustang. Turns out she was a neighbor in my development, and I knew her husband. LOL. She totaly killed me.

Yeah i had just added the ESM top, ZR intake, and ESM ported and diffused IC tubes. So I was happy. Seat of the pants says the car has bigger balls. I haven't tracked it or dyno'd it ever. But I have recently done a lot of mods to it and I love it! It surprises the hell out of a lot of cars around here. It used to be quick but now... DAMN. I can't wait to get a new blower, a front mount IC, big valve heads, and a new cam!!!!
I have these mods:
9" K&N cone filter, ZR intake, ported and diffused ic tubes, esm raised top w/ diffuser, 10% overdrive sc pulley, steel tensioners (bigger so no belt slip), cooling fan mod, removed catalytic convertors, flowmaster force II cat back system, 190 lph fuel pump, Ford Racing 3.27:1 gears, B&M ripper shifter. Those are my performance mods, I have a lot of cosmetic mods.

Im not saying that our cars are comparable to 100k sport cars. But from my experience at the drag strip for the month of may consists of me running just as fast or faster than any stock lt1 camaro, 5.0 mustangs, gtp,4.6 mustang (96-02 auto), and even if i was beat in a race I still would own them to the 1/8 mile. Gears are a must for our cars, your not swapping to much top speed for that 1/2 second of e.t.
(I personally would not want to be the one doin 140 down the passing lane when a nice couple with kids decide they need to get off at this intersection and pull into your lane)

Yeah, If you are in a higher elevation you can hang with a lot more cars. Down here at sea level, the Ls1 guys are turning mid 12's with nothing much at all. My neighbor pulled a 12:30 with Chip, torque converter, cat back exhaust, and Nitos, with his SS Camaro. With just the chip and Cat back he was running 12:60's. Not too many sc's are going to hang with that by any means, but there are a few.

yeah what I wouldn't give to run some of those cars up in the mountains. I am at sea level. LS1's are fast, flat out. I did however drive a 98 Z28 auto and I think that my SC felt much faster 0-85 mph.
Then again my friends SS 6-speed has more pull in 4th gear than I have in 1st LOL. (well maybe not, but its a fast car!)

i hear ya there, When I took my TA on the test drive i was quite impressed. It would kill any of my SC's without even breathing hard. Not too mention that the simple edition of a little ATI Pro-Charger will take the Rear Wheel HP to more than 462HP on a completley stock engine. he he, oh what fun I will have this summer.
