crankshaft question

I need a new harmonic balancer, and i dont have the money to spend for the SCP one, so I called up ford, and they asked me if it was an iron, or forged crankshaft. I bought a new motor from ford about 2 years ago, since they said they dont make the balancer for the iron crank anymore, would i be safe getting a balancer for the forged crank?

I would make the same assumption based on the Duracast (ductile itron) crank was only made for a portion of the very early 1989 cars then replaced by the forged crank for the rest of the production run (all years) of the SC.

If you have it taken apart, the dealer should be able to identify the correct one with the casting I.D. number on your old balancer. Should be E9SE 6312 CB on the pulley, and E9SE 6316 EA on the balancer, for a forged crank. If you do happen to have a cast crank, Ford no longer offers the balancer for it.
