I'm figuring on having... alot of money dumped into my car after this rebuild is complete (about enough that I could have purchased a new '02 Cougar XR that was REALLY cool looking). Looked in the paper today and saw a 1996 Supercharged Mustang Cobra 5-speed for $9000. Realizing that I am quite sure to be all warm and fuzzy about my uniqish, sleeper of a mustang GT / Corvette Eating Tbird SC (better be!!) Still can't help but think that I might have been happier spending just over half the $$ and having something that would have been a bit more reliable, quite a bit faster, and still pretty unique (assuming I didn't collect TOO many speeding tickets).

Oh well, I figure if I ever get tired of my SC I can always pull the engine out and stick it in a late model Mustang V6 5-speed... fun, light, and cheap insurance... also be pretty funny to have a single 3 1/2" or 4" functional exhaust :-)

Well dont feel bad..Im building teh Tbird because it isnt a mustang...if I wanted a mustang....I would have bought one...Hell I did..Want it?..I think to many people loose sight of what it is they expect out of a car..if you wanted reliable speed...You should have bought a mustang

If you're all about speed, get the fastest car you can for your money and just make it faster. Otherwise, you're starting in the hole. However, the fastest cars aren't necessarily the best or coolest. The SC isn't as fast, or as cheap to mod as some, but it's just about as cool a modern car as you can get for a reasonable amount of money. A Mustang rates an 8 for perforamance, but a 3 in styling. An SC rates an 8-9 in styling but a 6-7 in performance. It's all about trade off's and what you want in a car. The SC doesn't seem to be the best in any one area, but it's a great combination and good car for covering all the bases.

However, I did see a nice, red, notchback, early 90's LX 5.0 that was easier on the eyes than most. :D

I thought about a Cobra, and it only took about a second to realize that everyone and their grandmother has a mustang. I didn't want to be just another 5.slow on the road. So I got the sc, then when I realized that it would take 20,000 or more to do what I wanted with the car so I got my Trans Am.

Paul, you have mentioned in the past that you want your car to be a sleeper.....sure you can get a Stang or Trans Am or Camaro and people will expect to get their azzes handed to them, You do that in the SC and 98% of the people out there go ~~~ was that.

Priceless.......

I know, I know, and so she shall be... still couldn't help drooling over the idea of a Supercharged Mustang Cobra for $9000 though... besides, assuming it doesn't have "SUPERCHARGED" all over it, it would still be a sleeper of sorts - all the guys going, eh, I can take a Cobra with XXX whatever... little supercharger goes a long way.

As for my beast... we shall see ... (and the money kept rolling out in all directions!) First the engine, then we manage to pay off some of the credit card, then we can look at getting out the small dings, a carbon fiber hood, and a paint job.

It may be a Mustang, but it still only takes $6000 (heads, intake, blower, maf, tb, exhaust) to put it in the 11's... :p A helluva lot easier than a SC or any other MN-12.

(If you find a good deal on a blower kit, much, much less!)

I just wanted to say something here....Being both a stang and an SC owner for many years. I understand many peoples plights....The whole SC closest thing to a modern car isnt why I own one..I just overall like the car..No it isnt really great in any one aspect..But they have great potential..Currently my car handles with the best of them..Stops with the best of them and is semi quick...Which is what I'm working on now...All the speed parts needed to make this tank go fast are available..And in reality not all that expensive..Building a performance car in general is expensive..Believe me I know..I cant leave anything alone. So with my SC I can have a great performer with under 15,000 invested combined with price of car...Not bad in my book.. I can afford to go out and buy a new cobra or a vette..But its not me...I havnt seen a new car that strikes me enough to say that car is worth X amount of dollars..But I do hav ea feeling that new mustang might be that car..Im a car enthusiast like the next dude..And I feel its awfully cool when you can rape a v8 or a turbo car with a 4000lb v6 SC that everyone thinks is a POS...Gotta love sc's..Gotta love America!

You could always rebadge it as a 6 cyl LX. :D Then it'd be a sleeper before you even do any performance mod's.

I'm thinking hard about that new Mustang too.
