How do I get the shift knob off?

Seems like its attached to the boot. Is it? I need to replace the boot anyway though....What do I do?

Also how much does a new center console cost for a 95 5spd? Anyone know?

On my ,89 5 speed manual, it's threaded on and unscrews to the left.
It is separate from the boot.
