Blown96,
I think the 2.3 is overkill and is also too large to fit under a stock hood. Because of it's width and length it will only fit the top of an SC engine using the bottom exit with an air to liquid IC. I'm sure a 1.6 with top exit going through the MP front mount IC that I already have will make all the power I need to run high to mid 11s.
I'm told this has already been done several years ago on Jerry W's SC and he was running 11s with far fewer mods than I have.
MercsSC,
I'm not using stock bearings, the ones I have are part of the upgraded ESM nose cone and are intended for use in a high speed CNC lathe. I believe they are rated for something over 25K rpms. Since I'm usually only spinning at max rpms for a few seconds, I don't think it's going to hurt anything.
Yes, heat and HP consumption are the big problems with the M90. After talking to Charles Warner, I believe some of the heat soak is coming from the engine and could be reduced by using some type of phenolic spacer between the SC and inlet plenum an also between the SC and intake manifold. The Lightning guys are getting good results using similar heat isolating spacers. Charles said he is looking into doing something similar for the SC, but there may not be enough room.
