I raced a 2000 or newer Camaro at the track and he pulled on me off the line, but once he hit third gear it was all SC! i beat him by .3 and at first I thought my arse was going to get handed to me. Pretty quick car for a V6 but he won't beat you! At the time I had ported heads with stock exhaust so I know you can beat him! Oh by the way this was in the 1/8th mile...our cars don't really pick up speed in that short distance!

My best friend probe lx with a 3.0 5 speed smoked one at the dragstrip he ran a 15.7, dont know what the firebird ran though. It makes you wonder if those cars are really making 200hp.

hehe, I dont know, but from a 70 punch, a 2000 camero (auto, 5speed?) cant hang with me, but they are rated at 200 HP, and my 93 auto with a K&N drop in filter PUT DOWN 199.6 hp and 269.7 ft/lbs. never raced from a dead stop tho...

Don't know if it was stick or auto, but the dodge spanked him on top end.

we ran my friend's 3.8 5spd firebird on a g-tech shortly after he purchased it and we barely got it in the 17's, we figured he had some serious engine issues.<---and yes the g-tech is fairly accurate, my stock sc ran a 15.315 and my buddies mustang(94 gt with exhaust and cai) runs mid 14's. MPH isn't accurate but times are.

3.8L camaro's are good for high-mid 15's with an auto and low 15's with a 5speed, JUST like the 99+ 3.8L stangs (auto stangs are around 16 flat though.

I had a 96 camaro with 3.8 engine, ran it at the track....fastest time was a 16 flat. but.... I had about 200lbs of stereo in that car...custom box, 3 10'' JL W-6's, 2 PPI amps, the whole shabang.
Personally I think you'd run him, but /shrug

OKay... first of all.. Camaros and Firebirds are two different weights... one's sheet metal... Camaro.. and the other's Fiberglass... firebird.. for the most part they're generaly the same... but the firebird is slightly faster than the camaro...
Secondly You're talking different weigt to power ratios... Firebirds are a different class than SC or civics, or integras... You're talking a tiny tin can with less horsepower.. BUT less weight. If you were to balance the weight/power ratio, then there wouldn't be an arguement, but since they're copletely different vehicles and weights and powers.... there's not any point in racing them.
Race your SC versus some little ricers, and then brag... but don't put a lightweightweight fighter in a middleweight class...

Hrm.. hate to say it.... the SC could win..
1993 Ford Thunderbird SC - 3200 curb weight @ 225 HP
2000 Pontiac Firebird 3.8L - 3298 curb weight @ 200 HP
Only challenge is the shifting... if he's good at Manny tranny you're up for a good run..
 OOPS!

Hey wildo83, where did you find that 3200 lb supercoupe? I want to buy it! hehehe. My 93 auto SC weighs 4030 with me, less than 1/4 tank, and 3 10' subs in the trunk!
oh yeah, and my buddies 98 firebird v6 is limited to 115 mph.

Both the Camaro and Firebird have fiberglass doors and hatch. They also have plastic fenders.

isnt that why we build these cars ( sc, civics, etc...) so we can brag that our middle weghts and light weights can beat these high horsepower hevey weights. just my 2cents

are you sure its not 108?
V6 Camaros do 15.6 in the 1/4 mile.
i have a few in my club. one guy with headers, ram air, intake lid, and some exhaust work doing 14.9 (auto) and a girl with a few other goodies like a computer and stuff doing 14.5 (manual).
they arnt all that fast.
You guys are saying that the SC dosnt pick up speed off the line, whats up with that? My Regals peak power is off the line, and i would think with the more tq you guys have (comparing stock cars) you would be faster off the line

The V6 F-bodies aren't special at all. I know a guy that has exhaust, headers, intake, and a 150shot of nitrous with a 5-spd and he ran a 13.9@98  I dont see why this question would even be taken into consideration. You will beat him no questions asked :D :D . I wont give you any luck because you wont need it.

I have personaly raced a firebird on the freeway and from 60+ its not even a race they are very slow, but 0-60 they are quick because they are lite, but we have alot of tq which gives us a big edge off the line!
I wouldn't waste my time racing him because you already won and he knows it,just look at the Sc then look at his car,not even a comparision.

My best friend drives a 98 firebird 3800 series II. I absolutely whipped him, off the line, 40 mph roll, 70 - 100, you name it, it was no contest. His firebird is in good running order, and i do have a few mods, but the thing is still a pooch.....still hunting down the midnight blue TA that decided it'd be cool to blow by me doing about 110 mph. Damn F-bodies think their **** don't stink.

my Camaro was a '00 with a 3.8 Auto. i had a dynomax muffler and a hypertech. i never ran it after i got the programmer but when i did run it i hit a 14.5 and that was almost stock. It had 3.42's and open diffi. www.cardomain.com/id/camaro_guy00 It was a good car i just needed to lower my debt load since i'm going to school. I raced my buddy's stock '94 SC and put a good 1-1.5 cars on him to 110. He will probably beat you if he launches it good and knows how to drive. They aren't as slow as people try to make them out to be and now have a huge aftermarket. On my old V6 Camaro message board there are quite a few running low 13's, a few in the 12's and 1 in the 11's. the girl with the one in the 11's is Shirl and she's boosted and juiced. Looks completely stock from the outside. A few turbo kits are already fabricated for the V6 F-Body's and are putting down some CRAZY numbers. If he drives good he'll beat you but you HAVE to out launch him. if he get's the jump on you outta 1st gear you will not recover in 2nd, especially if he's got 3.42's in it. If you want the door codes to see what gears he's got here they are... GU6=3.42's ...GU5=3.23's.... GU4=3.08's...
Hope i helped at all. Good luck. Oh and they cut out at 118. At least that's what the 97+ cut out at. Mine didn't cut out because of the hypertech but prior to that it was 118.
