Speedo Gear - Same for Auto/Manual?

My speedo gear was never replaced when the gears were changed out. I have a manual tranny with 3.27s behind it. If I remember correctly, the auto's came stock with 3.27s. Could I possibly use a speedo gear from an automatic equipped car? Or is the gear different?

Thank You
Jeremy

Ford shows different part numbers for the 5-speed vs. auto. (Here is a link to the numbers in our FAQ section: http://www.sccoa.com/faq/speedgr.html)

I did see a post recently that reported that some of the gears were interchangeable. I beleive the 5-speed gears are shorter than the automatics, so I cannot say for sure that they are interchaneable.

Thanks George, I'll read up on this.

EDIT:

George, I went ahead and calculated how many teeth the gears needs to be, and it came out to be 20.5, should I just round up, or down? Thanks.

Calvin, or anyone really, can you post a pic of what the gear looks like? I may be able to obtain one. Thanks.
