Questions about rebuild

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my engine at school. I got it all torn down except for the valves are still in the heads, and everything looks really clean in it. The cylinders do have a slight ridge at the top, nothing major, but it is there. Would I be okay to bore it .030 over and just put some bigger rings on it? What else should I replace? Any tips for me? TIA

If you are going from standard bore to .030 over then you will have to replace the rings and pistons also. I would also put all new bearings in it( cam, main, rod) and all new seals obviously. Check out how the valve seats look, you may want to put a quick valve job on the heads and definately some new valve seals. Good luck!!!

That is not possible if you bore the cylinder you will have to put larger pistons in there. I wouldn't go all the way to .030 over. Most standard oversizes are .5mm overbore (about .020 overbore).
