We'll lets just say that if the octane plug just happens to NOT be making a connection, this can have a signifigant effect on NOx emissions.
Passed NOx 129.

Yea - The guy that did my emmission test the last 2 times did exactly that same trick. 1st he tests it and I get a high NOx reading. Then buddy, (for a small fee of course) disconnects the sensor and it magically passes. I have to remember to disconnect it next year before I take it in.

sounds like your emission laws are boarderlining on ridiculousness.

No fees involved, but you have to understand what and why...
NOx can be reduced by less advance in ignition timing - but HC's go up. I had plenty of room to spare in HC's.
The octane plug is provided so that you can run 87 octane regular gas without pinging, it pulls the timing back 3 degrees. This just happens to also reduce NOx.
Not really twisted, just a matter of understanding how it all works.

Anyone mind sharing where the octane plug is???? Mine is due for E-testing this October. Thats why I just put in two new O2 sensors.
