I have a 94 SC that i bouught with a blown motor. I just put a new motor in it, and can't get the radiator fan motor to work without turning the air conditioning on. Any ideas on this? It is not the ICRM or the fan motor.
2nd qestion, the engine runs at between 1100 & 1700 RPM and when you stop it revs too high for about 2-4 seconds. Also tends to speed when you are driving, having to constantly hit the brakes. Thanks guys
 
Cut the number 14 wire, that should get your fan running all the time. Also was the engine brand new? Did you break it in correctly? I just did the same thing with my sc (new engine) and you always have a few bugs to work out.
 
I had that rpm problem on mine.

It was the IAB (idle air bybass) module on the left hand side of the TB.

As he said, the IAC or IAB will cause a high idle. However, if your idle comes down eventually it could also very well be a vacuum leak. Check all vacuum lines and IC tube connections.

How do you know that your fan doesn't work? How hot did the motor get when you were testing this out? The fan comes on at 220 degrees. It is very possible you have an air bubble in your cooling system. If the temp sensor is not reading correctly then the fan will not come on. Since you have idle issues anyway, it might be a good time to replace the sensor. If you have a VMM you can check voltage output of the sensor.

A quick verification note:

When my IAB/C was bad, it would come down to about 1,100rpm in D. Same as Tim's indicating.
 
Hmm good points from all the above :)

IAC is a possibility.. disconnect it when it's idling, if it's dies then it's it.. if not.....

Also is the throttle sticking?? < I bet scott checked THAT one right?? (unless this is scott ;) >

and if the ECT sensor(for the EEC) isn't connected <? is is disconnected thinking it's hot?> or is screwed up some how... it'll keep thinking that's it's cold.. so it'll stay in fast idle

the Fan is controled by the EEC, so if the ECT sensor is DOA, then it won't turn on...

So my best bet would be Swap out the ECT sensor and see what happens..
