OK so I nearly split the difference in East Hartford (30 min to Springfield about 1hr to Providence)

One thing nice about this region is everybody will be within 2hr or so of just about anything we want to do.

I live in Brunswick, ME. I drive through freeport daily, and I am always in Portland. I have never been to Acton, Maine. Though, Sanford (halfway between Acton and Portland) has good racing during the summer.

It's a nice place to be, but RWD cars are hard in the winter.

Where I stay in Acton is only about 10 minutes away (MAX.) From Sanford. Or 5 minutes form the Poor People's Pub if you know where that is.

As most of you already know, I'm from Smithfield, RI. I've seen maybe 3-4 SC's around here, (well kept) but I guess they don't know about our "cosa nostra" (this thing of ours!). If you guys wanna get together before this meet we're trying to do, please let me know. We all live in New England, so nothing's really THAT far! Maybe we can hang out some Saturday, or Sunday morning / afternoon. Let's face it, most people don't understand why we put so much time, and energy into these Birds. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one pumping every extra cent into "my baby!"

In truth people think were just nuts for putting so much into these cars.

Every time I walk into my local Ford dealer they just roll there eyes. They universally love the cars but hate keeping them up and working on them.

My friend just bought a 2000 Grand Prix GTX and basicly laughed at me because for the kind of $ I'm dumping into the bird I could have bought that car. But just know who's gonna get the last laugh.

leforrest

What's a descent car worth?
$10k?

Btw the time I get done with my car with mods, it'll stand me close to 8500 all told, and I'll have a 425hp, 22mpg car that has a completely new drivetrain! I'd rather have a fresh drivetrain with no miles than a used car with 50k and over for miles and not know where it's been! Just my .02

Chit...for 8,500 your doing pretty well.

I thing by the time I'm done I could damn near have bought the thing new in '89 or 3 used '95s now.

Car Mods - $15k...........Being in the 12s - Priceless.

leforrest
03-05-2002, 05:51 PM
Yeah, I guess I have a bit more than I figured after I REALLY think about it. I probably have closer to 10k after all the engine work and tranny work I have done. I was just making a rough guesstimate! Ah well, at least it will scream when I get done, I just hope all this work will get me to the 12's, that's what I am hoping anyway!

Unfortunately for me I am currently in Waterbury, CT....but we are house hunting at the moment and will most likely end up in Tolland, or possibly Enfield CT.

Brian, that puts me pretty close to you.

Originally I am from MASS, and I like to think I still live there mostly.

I'd be interested to take a look at a few other SC's...in fact I would really like to go for a couple rides....I need to see how mine performs, sometime you need a baseline to understand how well you car is running, or could run. Every now and then I see an SC, but typically the driver does no seem to think that they are in any way related to me...so to speak

Anyway,

Well, join the club, and come to the meet!!! :)
I hear ya Scott, when you see someone driving an SC, it's like they're afraid to look you in the eye (usually a rich teenager) like what's up with that? You would think they would like to pull over and compare notes so to speak.....maybe it's the whole "road rage" syndrome...who knows!
Hope to "meet" you at the meet!

I'm live in Acushnet, MA. It's a small town just north of New Bedford. I've owned my 89 SC for four years. However, I spend most of my money just keeping it running, nevermind any mods. She's getting old and for a while, it seemed like every week something would break. I think I've finally caught up with it. So far, so good... so what! Any way I must be a glutton for punishment because I haven't got rid of yet. I can't. I love it too much. Since I have everyone's attention, how is everyone's car reliability-wise? I'm going to try my hardest to make it to the next meet. Hope to see all of you there.

A couple of years ago I saw on the TCCOA boards that 2 or 3 guys lived in WW. I tried emailing one of them back around 2 years ago and never heard back from them. I actually grew up in WW. I'm 32, I don't know if you are around my age, but it would be funny if we knew one another or the same people. My factory and where I currently live is behind Joannes bakery across from Guill Tool.

Yeah, I used to live on Providence Street on the Natick side of the Pawtuxet river. I worked at that DB Mart on the corner of 115 for.. maybe 3 years? Even now when I visit my best friend on Prospect Hill, people still recognize me as the "DB Mart Guy". :D

And I could always be found at Tougi's for Cruisin' Bruce's car show, every week. Come to think of it, I do kind of miss my Coventry/WW stomping grounds. Once I even got the guy at Coventry Liquors to drop the price of my beer almost 2 bucks just so I would buy it from him. That rocked.

I'm hoping that next time I go home to work on the car I can hook up with one or two other RI guys.. never actually shot the breeze with another MN12'er.

Hey Liquid and V8SC, i'm from Attleboro MA, that's like 1/2hour away from Warwick. I've seen 2 or 3 SCs in my area, one of the guys it actually from NY and he's not part of the club, the other SC is kinda run-down so i assume he's not part of the club either. Right now my car is awaiting some new rocker panels and some engine/exhaust/suspension work. it'll be a while before it's back on the road. My SC is still off the road waiting for all the snow and ice to melt. I'll get a battery for it in the next couple of weeks and probably put her on the road and see what it's like to be behind the wheel of my car. Hey just recently joined, thought I'd get myself known around the area. I'm from Boston, MA (West Roxbury) and I have an 88 Cougar which I dropped a 95 sc engine into. I love the performance of the engine, I wanted to go 351W but the guy that was gonna do it for me was takin his sweet old time getting the block and kept giving me excuse after excuse so I had my regular mechanic drop this in and am far from disappointment. The engine is running off of the map sensor and is using the 88 eec. I lost 3rd gear in my stock tranny so I got an lsc tranny that I had rebuilt and then because of the longer length of the tranny, I was forced to get a new driveshaft and I also bought a turbocoupe rear end with 3.73s but at the moment that sits in the back of my truck (88 blazer). The car just recently had a new body kit put on because I slipped on ice over the last winter hit a curb and destroyed the front piece so its getting painted right now. I'm hoping to have it back if not the end of the week, next week. I'm down for meets whenever, as long as the road trip is reasonable. Once I get the car back though, it will be covered except for when I'm driving it but it's not gonna see rain nor snow. When raining, it'll be covered and I'm hoping to have it in a garage come late october early november. So Ill be around every now and then but I'm usually busy with school and work so can't say how often.

HI, my name is Al, I'm from N prov. R I and looking forward to meeting any members. lol Al

Well, Al, welcome aboard.:D I have found the SCCOA guys to be a great bunch of guys with a wealth of information. I've been able to meet several semi-local guys from CT when I used to go to a cruise night in central CT. It would be great to get a bunch of us together, although it's hard with everyones' busy schedules. My SC needs a bit of work, but it would still be lots of fun. I've got a nice dent in my trunk that I haven't had much time to do anything with and a leaky door seal that can be a pain sometimes. Maybe we could get a few of us together one of these Saturdays for a couple hours.

I'll give ya a call during the week and we'll see what we can do, I live over in Torrington, Ct. so pickin' up what I want isn't a problem. The hood also interest me and a few other things for White Lightning! cheers and beers and remember those that went before us!!!! I always throw one back for them! Happy New Year.

Frank, How have you been? It's been awhile since I talked to you. Things have been crazy here. Have they settled down any for you? LOL ;) Are you heading down to Carlisle again this year? I'm hoping to maybe meet up with some of the NJTACC crew and convoy down with them, but no word back yet. We usually meet up near the PA border at what I think is the first Rest Area in PA.

Hey guys,

Good to meet everyone! Count me in for a get together once my car is done. My goal is to have it on the road agin by the start of June.

In the process of a head gasket job on my 90 auto SC that I bought for $500. Just trying to decide whether I want to pull the whole engine out of the car, replace the bearings and clean everything and replace the mounts and clean the engine bay. The heads will be going to the shop soon if I can't find a good set somewhere.

Anybody have a good set of heads they're looking to part with?
