John Gagne`s web page says he has 235/60/15 tires. Does he mean 16 inch or can you put 15 inch tires to lower our cars. His car fantastic, I hope he can show up at one of our mini meets. I would love to see that car up close. PETE90SCBLACK

Pete...I'm not sure about the answer to your question, but John's a real nice guy, I've been talking with him for a while now. I'm sure if you email him, he'd be more than happy to answer that, and any other questions you might have about his "One of a kind" Bird! One thing I can say, is I KNOW he JUST got the new wheels/rubber like in the last couple weeks...I'm thinking maybe he hasn't updated his page yet? Sweet ride though isn't it?!?!

Those are recent rims on John's webpage I believe. I may be mistaken, but I thought I read a post awile back about how he bought new rims and had them stripped and re-powdercoated. Those are oviously not stock rims. I thought the LX's had 15" rims OEM. He may,,, before the upgrade had those 235 tires on those rims.

You are right SKIP....I remember him telling me he was getting his new wheels powder-coated, and up til two weeks ago, he had the wheels that are just like the ones on my 89 parts car on his Bird, which I beleive were the 15's. After seeing his powder-coated white, I though about doing the same thing to some similar wheels for my car, only in red, but after using photoshop to color the pic of John's car and wheels red, I thought it would it might look a bit too "loud"! White looks GREAT, but I don't think red "Snypers" (ROH) would look as nearly nice!

Re: Hearing them racing...

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words about the bird, and thanks for letting me hang out here even though I'm not blown. I haven't updated the info on my site as to the tires. I used to have Michelin Pilot 235/60/15 which are as close to stock height as possible but a bit wider. They handle great but like Jeff said, I just went with 18's! I wrapped them in 245/45/18 Bridgestone S-03. All I have to say is that that is some sick rubber, good up to 186! The only issues with the 245/45/18 is that it is a 2.5" wider rim so I had to remove the rear fender lip to get them to fit, and still there is not much wiggle room.

Thanks for the complements on the exhaust too. In my opinion Borla is the only way to go. They flow like 82% more than a Flowmaster and are only $30 or so more! Plus they can be quite loud, but more like a big block and less like a truck. I got more of a big block sound because my 2 systems never meet, so you can hear each one sputter individually, like put put put instead of pbpbpbpbpbpbpbp. Hehe.

Just a follow up....I took John's advise and went with a pair of Borla mufflers, and I gotta say even though they're almost twice as expensive as most of the others....they were so worth it. If ANYONE here is going to do any exhaust work that involves new mufflers, I highly reccomend spending the extra money, and going with the Borla's without a doubt!
