Changed the motor mounts today, man were they in BAD shape,
kind of scary. A big thanks to Bruce and Andrew V. for helping
me replace them, I couldn't have done it without them. Those mounts are a f*&%#er to replace.

did you get the solid rubber or factory ones Andrew? either way when I put my solid ones in made a big improvement, check your pressure line for your power steering pump to make sure it did not get damaaged from that motor flopping around

John, I got the solid rubber one's which I ordered with all the other stuff. The car was running rough. I'll check those lines to
make sure they're ok, thanks for the tip.

that was his drivers side motor mount, oddly the passenger side was still 1 piece, but still original

Bruce,

There's nothing odd about that...

The driver's side mount is put under tension when the motor torques over. The passenger side gets compressed. Therefore, you're likely to see a torn mount on the driver's side, while the passenger side might look OK, but have gotten soft enough to mean that the engine sits lower in the bay, possibly resulting in contact between the oil pan and the lines that run beneath it.

The driver side mount in my old parts car had come right out of the metal loop when I stripped the motor out of it. That might have been a result of the wreck. The rubber mount was busted clean in two though, just like that pic of Andrew's mount.

Cheers,

Sean
