I made one run due to one smoking a/c clutch and 50 or so ricers.
I blistered the track with a 16.12 @ 86.37mph! The mph seems about right for stock so the 2.403 60ft time stuck with that 16, i guess.
I have a few questions you guys might be able to answer.
1. Am I the only one that didn't know automatics have a shift light? It came on right near the finish. I had to look to see what it was and lost track of what rpm I was at.
2. Does anyone know what the shift light is set at for 3rd?
3. Does anyone know someone named Thomas that drives and Eclipse that got beat by a 89XR7?(He had a faster ET but due to the friend he let drive it I had him by .4 seconds at the light.)
4. How can I tell if my a/c compressor died and took the clutch with it or if the clutch went alone? I had my a charged for the first time last week and on the second day while the air was on sparks were flying and smoke filled the air. The compressor was cycling quite a bit since I had it charged and started using it.
For the record I didn't have the slowest Cougar. There was a 94' or 95' 4.6L that ran in the 16.80 range, I only saw him run once though.
RJ, it was nice to meet your son. I was wondering if you knew what he has planned for your 95'?

Hey Kurt I didn't know you'd decided to go till it was too late last night... I drove right by the track at about 7 coming from the barn but I was in the truck..
Was that rotten kid of mine up there?? He's always had a lot of ideas to do with Dad's cars... Damn kid!!
Hey on your AC compressor, you might try turining the center hub by hand to make sure the compressor itself isn't locked up... If it is thats a good reason for the clutch to burn up...
Did Thomas have anything really stupid that he was driving?? He does have that RICE on the brain syndrome here lately... Did Mike show up or were you all by yourself??

I was all by myself. I'm suprised I even made it there as indecisive as I was about when I was going. But it's done now, I have my baseline to work with even if it is only one run. Good news is it shouldn't be hard to improve on that!
Thomas just had that eclipse as far as I know, it looked stock, he said it pretty much was. I don't know much about the little cars, I'm still trying to catch up with the Mustangs and such. I was driving trucks and off roading for about six years. Anyhow, my race was against your son's car with his friend driving. I didn't even pay attention to what I was racing until I saw it after the finish line. I let them pass me onto the return road and they gave me a friendly wave. Then I talked to them in the lanes, he told me he thought they would take me easy because his dad has an SC and he beats him regularly. That was my only satisfaction for the night, beating a faster car is almost as good as being faster than someone. He got to blame his friend so I guess everyone was happy!
It will definately be more fun with some of you guys there.

That's it, his butt is toast when I see him this weekend!!! He just got that eclipse and was telling me about it on the phone last weekend.
The only thing he's ever beaten dear old dad at is running his mouth... Man, you raise them for 17 years by your self and they think they own ya...
Sorry I couldn't make it bud, I'd of stopped by if I had read the post before I got home. I'd of stopped even though I was in the truck.. We need to get a bunch of cars out there.. Dan said he'd come but he's more of a watcher, as I am... I'm glad to see all the activity here on the forum, I hope everyone keeps it up...

I like this forum, especially after meeting people and seeing the cars.
Again I'm sorry about the short notice, but I do plan a triumphant return to the track backed by a bunch of SC's.
I hope I haven't started a family fued, but if he's into rice it was probably going to happen anyway.lol

No problem Kurt, we've been arguing ever since he turned 17 and decided to go live with his good for nothing mother... He's a pretty good kid, just has a lot of his mother's tendencies...

He wants me to go tonight... I might go for a couple of hours, wish some more SCs were going though... I really don't want to run this one till I get the exhaust and stuff done on it... I still have a leaky pinion but I might just have to shut my kid up tonight... He said his best run was a 15.7.... I might not be able to make it home afterwards... I'll have to see when I get there... Drive safe to Tampa Mike...

I can't go tonight and probably not for 3 or 4 weeks since I need to fix the a/c thing and I have to make a trip to Ohio on the 25th. And I haven't found a job around here yet.
I checked the a/c clutch and the only thing that moves is the pulley itself, but it is severly fried. Can the clutch be replaced seperate from the compressor? I need to go the cheapest route right now. I was even thinking about just getting a junk compressor that spins well if the clutch can't be done seperate. Any suggestions will be helpful.
And to sound really pathetic, the monitor on my computer also fried up last night so my responses may be slow.
RJ I guess you and your son can just settle it on the track! I would really like to see that one.
Have a safe trip Mike hope you run well.

Hey Kurt.. We don't need to worry about Thomas now... I got a call while sitting at the track Friday night waiting on him... Some lady in a van with like 7 kids in it took the front end off his eclipse leaving the mobile home park Friday night... From everything I measured and read in to the accident Thomas wasn't at fault... FHP gave him the ticket though and his little car is toast.. Only caught the front 6 inches of the car, didnt' even get into the drivers front rim... But it trashed the front end of the little car back to the firewall...
Damn kid only had minimum insurance and he's on the hook for the car now... He thinks he can fix it.. I'm still trying to get a trailer to haul it back up to his shop in Eustis for him to try and work on it... Jodi and the Baby were Ok...
Guess we'll see how good a Mech he really is now..

Good to hear that nobody was hurt. What did they give him a ticket for, speeding? Did you see anything good at the track? How crowded was it?

He finally got a dolly last night at 10 O'Clock and went and got his car... 3 or 4 nights with only 2-3 hours sleep wiped me out so I didn't make it over there to help him load it up.. Guess he made it home this morning early...
He got the ticket for essentially running the stop sign, even though from locations of the cars and the impact to the cars you could clearly see he was stopped dead when the lady hit him. She had a bunch of buddies there in the park, we sat there from 4:30 till 10:30 waiting on the FHP to get there to right the damn ticket up.. I never made it back to the track...

You had to wait 6 Hours! That's absolutely ridiculous.
If you had known, you could have gone to the track while you were waiting and still made it back in time.lol
Sounds like Thomas definately needed some back-up though. Nothing like letting people in a dispute sit there and spend some time together. Anyhow sounds like he got his car back so that's good.
