1) I think its like 20 or 30 dollars a month to run unlimited carfax's.
2) I am not sure if it is only for US vehicals. Give me a Canadian VIn and I will try it to see.

Let me tell you about my CARFAX experience

My first SC was a '93 with 128k on it when I bought it. I liked it so much that I decided to find a '95 (newest year made) with low miles, and equipped more to my taste (no leather or moonroof). Well, thanks to the internet, I found my car in Kansas City, had a CARFAX run on it, and it came back clean as a whistle. When I flew out to KC to pick up the car, the guy showed me some minor clearcoat chipping along the trim on the side of the roof. Well, when I got it home, I took it to a body shop to get an estimate on fixing the clearcoat. The guy got to walking around and inspecting the car, and lo and behold he told me that my car had been HAMMERED bigtime in a wreck. He said they done an excellent job fixing it, but a lousy job painting it. I being the ignoramus that I was at the time, did not notice that the factory data sticker was missing from the drivers' side doorjamb, because that side of the car had been replaced.

You would think that an accident/repair like that would have been in the CARFAX database. Well, it wasn't, and when I contacted them about it via email, they basically blew it off. If you do have a problem with CARFAX, they cease to be "user friendly". Just a fair warning, even if you use CARFAX, make sure you or someone professional, or both, inspect the car closely before buying it.

Carfax can only report what was reported to them and if it was turned into the insurance company or if there was a police report filed. And some states are not obligated to file accident reports for car fax. And GM will not give them any recall information.
