I'm not yet paid (you've got mail Paul) but I'm definately in. We really need to hit 5 to see the best advantage on this deal...
Let's go people! Step up.
Paul, How many people have paid up?
This is looking pretty sad....

Doug, unfortunately, what you see is what you get. I know Paul Levine and MIke D. will be in for sure, they will be paying next week though. My brother is planning to get a set if he is the deciding factor. There was lots of talk about getting in on this before but as usual, more talk than action:( Hopefully there are 1 or more others who just havent stepped forward yet.

Yes I would post this same deal on the v6 stang boards. We have a few people building motors that should be interested.

NO.
Please read the group purchase page for lead times. Had everyone ponied up at the beginning of the buy, I would have placed the order then. Unfortunately, it was not in everyones budget I would presume and as a result, the soonest I can place the order is Monday morning. If you come across a reputable place that will make custom pistons in 7 days or less, please pass it along to me.
Paul
P.S. nanatothesixth paid this evening and it looks like Valentino will be paying tomorrow morning as well as Paul L. Mike D will be paying tomorrow as well.

Hey Paul,
Just wondering if I can get a set of .030 over Total Seal Rings while the purchase is going on if the price is somewhat reduced.
Thanks,
Zach

The order for the pistons has been placed as of 3pm Monday. I will be submitting the actual work order today with actual overbore size details as soon as I receive bore information from one of the buy participants who forgot to include it. Everything appears to be on schedule.
Paul
I know it's early, but any news yet?

Only news is that everything is on schedule with the original timelines posted on the group buy page. If anything changes, I will inform everyone.

Just got off the phone with Diamond, pistons will be shipping out between Weds and Fri of this week. On the flip side, rods are running behind schedule and may not arrive to me for distribution until the middle of next week:mad: Will keep everyone posted on that. I know this will only affect 1 person (DLF) but it is out of my control. As far as timelines go in general, its nothing to get frantic over as everyone else will see their parts arrive at the same time. For those getting the Swain coating, I will update with Swain late next week.
Paul
P.S. Zach, never heard back from you on the rings you asked about. Drop me a line if you need them still, now is the time to get them shipped out.

So I'll get the pistons and rings first, followed by the rods a week or so later?
If that's the case, I can at least get the block work started, and have the rotating assembly balanced a little later.

Sorry I forgot to e-mail you back. I found a lower price on the rings so I went that route.
Thanks,

Doug, you may see the pistons as soon as Tuesday Aug 26th in my estimation. The rods may not arrive to you until after Monday Sept 4th however. I will email you directly when they arrive to me since you are 1 business day ship time from me.

Just waiting on Swain, if I do not hear anything by Monday I will be giving them a call. As for the rockers, I have yours here Val, I am holding them until the rods arrive and are ready to ship (hopefully early next week). If you need them sooner, drop me an email.

I do not see why they wouldnt fit a FWD block, however I would recomend you confirm the specs of the SC engine bore and stroke to yours as a precaution. What compression ratio are you looking to acheive?

I'm assuming you've talked with Paul offline? If not, send him an email at info@bluetonguemotorsports.com he is back in town and should get back to you fairly quickly.
If anyone is wondering about the status, I spoke with Paul and the folks that are doing the coating ran in to some shipping confusion... but they should be in the mail early next week.
As an aside, has anyone else weighed their rods? I have mine, but haven't weighed them yet.
Thanks,
Paul

Paul early this week, he said the problem with the rods was an isolated incident. I received my rods about a week ago and I only checked to see what was in the box.
Val
The rod issue happened to me, and was a special problem that won't affect anyone else. Paul took care of it promptly.

What's the torque spec for the H-Beam rod bolts?
cougarsc
12-12-2003, 01:04 PM
For the torque, use the Arp specs:

That would be extremely helpful, if I knew the part number of the rod bolts.

ARP 351w hi perf rod bolts/nuts 150-6004
I think 50 ft-lbs with Arp lube.

I really appreciate your trying to help, but there are no nuts. And these are 220,000 psi bolts (at least I think so).
I was actually hoping that Paul, or someone else that bought these, and knows the answer, would reply.

I think the manufacturer of the rods picked the bolts. You might ask supercatxr7
The 150-6004 is a rod bolt kit.
Other 351w rod bolts
150-6404 250-6404
They all list 50 ft-lbs

http://www.fastengineparts.com/products_view.php?id=110
Thanks. Turns out they're 8740 cap screws (210,000 PSI). The 7/16" 8740 cap screws listed by ARP all show 60 lft-lbs, but different stretch specs.
Can someone who participated in this group buy, please either tell me, or send a scan of the rod bolt specs? I specifically need the torque and stretch specs. The ARP part number for the rod bolts would be perfect.
I never saw the box the rods came in, they went straight to my machinist.
Thanks

I never saw the packaging they came in either since I never opened the boxes. DLF, the manufacturer advised 65lbs as I stated in my email to your inquiry a few days ago. I don't have any stretch specs.
Paul
I didn't receive any emails from you until this evening.
65 ft-lbs is what I used.
I still need the stretch specs, if anyone's got them.....
