timing

ok well when i get to putting my engine back togehter which will be in the next 3 weeks what is the best way to set the timing? i need instructions on how to cause i dont want to end up having to take 1/2 the damn thing apart again. so once i put the crank, pistons and slide the cam in what do i do from there like how to i get the timing chain on so its all done right?

There is a notch in each gear of the timing set, they need to be towards each other, the crank gear notch straight up the cam gear notch straight down.
