Headlight removal?

headlight removale

Hi Tom,

if you look behind the headlight buckets you will se the adjusters. Do not move these, There is a slot head that takes a quarter trun to the lrft to unfasten them, and then remove the light bulbs with out touching them. And that's all there is to it. reverse the proceedure to install. Simple enough As you didn't change the adjustment, you don't need to re-adjust them. For once Ford DID have a better idea.

Adjusting Headlights

If you look at the back of the headlight housing, you will see the adjusters protruding through the headlamp mount panel.

The ends of the screw takes a 4mm wrench, and by turning one of the screws clockwise or counterclockwise will raise/lower the headlight or move it in/out.

Best is to do it late at night. Park on a level surface about 10ft away from a wall.

Good luck.

Clarification

I wanted to clarify that I wish to remove the outer assembly, or in other words the yellowing plastic cover...

Just the cover does not come off without cutting. The lamp is an entire assembly that typically must be replaced. Some new lamps come with a removable lense assembly.

To remove the headlamp assembly you'll notice black pieces that go through the header panel with metal clips slipped over the back of them. These clips slide into cuts in the plastic round pieces to retain the headlamp through holes in the header panel. Use a pliers to slide the clips up and out which will allow the headlamp assembly to slip out of its mount.
