I'm still fiddling with the stock JBL system in my '93SC.

Does anyone know what the wattage of the main and subwoofer amps are?

When my CD unit is hooked up the radio will turn on but not play. "CD" shows on the face of the radio and the CD unit does not light up. I pulled the cd and jumped the speaker wires and the radio works with full power. When I took the top off the cd, I can see the cd 'eye' jump when power is turned on. When testing the power wires, I have 12v+ hot, ground and lamp illumination. The wire that is orange/brown stripe, does not have any power at all. Reading the schematic shows this wire provides power to the cd when the radio is turned on. Checked the fuses - good. Pulled the power plug from the radio and tested - all good except the same orange/brown wire.

Is there a hidden fuse or something I didn't find/test?

As usual, just like any SC repair- this is making me crazier than I already am.

Thanks,

Mark

I wondered how much power the stock system had back at the begining of 2002.

From memory, I believe the subwoofer amp was rated for about 30 watts and the main amp was about 16 watts per channel. I could be wrong; but it any case a few have tested the output power and found it to be noticeable less than the rated output.
