I've been reading the board for a little bit now, and thought I'd say hi..

I've already met a couple of you.. I was the guy in Niagara Falls at the No Frills with the ghetto beige 89 Cougar.. I WAS going to be doing a bunch of work to it (she's rough, but solid), but after seeing some of the SC's last weekend, I just like that body style so much better..

So yeah, instead of building the Coug, I've made arrangements to pick up HighOctane's V6 'Bird.. why not an SC? Simple.. I'm gonna be changing and ripping so much of the car apart that it's not worth it. Might as well start with a base model.. Essentially all I need is a rolling chassis, and I'll add SC skirts later..

But yeah, that's a little about me.. I look forward to posting a lot more on this board..

Welcome aboard! If possible, I'd suggest you buy an SC rather than try to turn a base model into one, but it's up to you. It'll make your like a lot easier anyway. There is quite a bit more than just the difference in motor, and appearance.

Make yourself at home, and take advantage of the knowledge everyone here has to offer.

Thanks for the warm welcome..

I hear what you're saying.. And I did want to get an SC originally.. but when I started looking at what I wanted done to the car, it just makes more sense...

motor swap (not a 3.8SC), tranny swap , diff swap (might just swap out the posi diff from my current cougar), suspension upgrades, massive interior work.. it wouldn't leave much of the original car left..

Welcome to the club!

Starting with a 3.8 n/a and NOT using a 3.8 s/c? Ohhh, that's a faux-pass. I like it already. (do we have another V8 guy in the works???) Well, whatever you're planning, don't be afraid to ask. I'm sure you'll find that everyone here is knowledgable, if not in one area, then another.
Just out of curiosity, where are you located?

I'm at Danforth and Coxwell in Toronto.. The cougar's also there.. but the 'Bird is still in Niagara until I drop some cash and drive her back.. Which hopefully is going to be by the end of the month..

And I know the guys here tend to know their stuff.. Posts in general seem educated for once LOL

P,

If you're interested in participating in the list, follow this link (http://sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=27164&highlight=Contacts) to the most recent thread on the topic. There you'll find instructions on how to submit your contact information.

Welcome to the club! Let me know if you need a hand with anything. I'm not quite so far from you as the Niagara Falls gang, but Hamilton is still a pretty good jaunt from Toronto.

Best regards,

Sean

Nothing wrong with Merc's.. I love the Cougar.. but what I want to do just suites a 'Bird a lot better..

As for what the Bird's getting, it's no secret... I just want to make sure I actually start it.. :).. I'm sure you guys get a lot of "Hey, I'm doing this, and this, and this.. and did I mention this to my car", only to find out later that they're full of hot air  .. I don't want to set expectations ;) and then have nothing actually started :D

I'll run by a brief synopsis of what I'm building once I finalize and put a deposit down on the motor in two or three weeks (waiting for a nice lil' cheque to come in).. I guarantee you you guys will know, cause I'm gonna be asking some questions :D

oh yeah, and I just signed up for the contact list too..
