talk about cold air

so my friends and i were *********** around at about 3:00am last week and we were talking about my friends brothers turbo rabit that runs 14's and we thought up the idea of mounting dry ice right in front of the intercooler. In theory this should make the air going in freezing cold. We realized this may not be a bad idea and now were are desgning one for my supercoupe. The thinks you think up at 3:00 in the morning.

It's been done on other cars. There are some key engineering problems that one doesn't think of at 3.am.

#1 - Cooler air flowing through the intercooler will help, but due to the number of fins it's impact is not as much as you would hope.

#2 - Putting dry ice in front of the intercooler hinders air flow, actually reducing the cooling of the IC.

#3 - A colder intercooler won't remove one of the main problems which is the restriction that the intercooler itself is with it's large pressure drop.

But good luck.
