Jason
Do you have some JBL pieces then?
I am trying to set up my 95 with JBL and need a 94/95 JBL 4ch amp with sub output, and at least 2 of the in car speakers.
I also need wiring sub power plugs etc

Peter,
I'm not looking to sell my JBL out of the car or take the wiring out but will let you know if I find something for you.

I have two JL 10W6's, I'd like $450 for the pair and they were new in march.

I have a sealed enclosure with two 12" Lanzars for sale. It sounds good and fits perfectly under the Thunderbird back deck.

Sabby,,,,,You have mail
Peter,,,,,I can see if I can dig up my old amp out of my '95. I may also have the old speakers around too. I had the "premuim sound" system, if that helps any.

Thanks, but my car has premium sound.
Premimum sound being 4 speakers, 4 ch amp full range to each speaker.
JBL is 4 ch amp - highs and mids only to the car speakers, passive output wire to the sub which handles all the low freq.
I have an early JBL 4ch +1 output, but it has two problems
1 - the turn on voltage from the 95 head unit is too low for it 5V instead of 6.5V
2 - the crossover point was lowered in I think 92 which made for a much better sound than 89-91.
Thanks

JASON & MIKE - you guys might want to take some MEASUREMENTS before you go any further. SC'c have a shelf underneath the rear window for the factory amp and other stuff. If you remove the shelf and re-locate those parts you can fit a box that is 14.5'" tall.

Quiznos!
Vary good subs I must say.
The reason I only want one good sub is so I take up as little room as I can in the trunk since I all ready have a tool box.
Does any one have an idea of whats a good make?

I had been looking for a compact sub, then somebody gave me a factory one.
I turned up
Clarion SRV303
Kenwood SR62... not recommeded by a few people
Infinity Basslink
The Infinity Basslink seemed to have the specs on paper to be pretty decent 200W, 10", down to 20Hz response in a 15x15x9 package.

If you want nice tight bass for inside your car go with a tube bass such as a bazooka. If you are looking for more go for a box instead! The amp is the most important piece!

Jason,
If you have no idea what to do then you should listen to a few people's set-up. Personally I have a 12" RF punch in a ported box with a single RF 2-channel amp bridged mono to drive it. It's not competition level....but it does rattle the car pretty good! You should have a listen next time we see each other.
Something I don't think anyone asked ya: how much do you plan to spend on this?
Jim.

When I was comparing single 12" subs in sealed enclosures I listened to a Pioneer (cheap) which was OK, then a Focal (expensive) , which was OK, then a Kicker Comp VR (medium) and oh baby this thing was tight and powerful. Great sound quality and it kicks, so I bought it. If you care about sound quality, get a sealed enclosure.

Jason, i'm assuming you're planning on using the amps you got through work? The most important thing, as mentioned earlier, is how much money will/can you spend. Remember, you might be able to find used stuff, but it should be from someone you can trust!!! With regards to subs.....the most important thing is that the sub and box are matched to each other. Some subs can be used in a variety of boxes, while some are limited to only one style of box. This isn't a "must", as manufacturers design subs to be good in most different boxes, but should be payed attention to if you want a good sounding stereo.
Jim's advice is your best bet. Listen to someone else's set up. The way you hear music as being "good" is going to be different than someone elses. Some people don't want to hear themselves think when it comes to bass, others want it to blend with the rest of the stereo. Listen to a few different ones BEFORE you buy anything!!
I'd like to recomend MTX's website. They have a section marked "Education" which goes into more detail about....everything. Look for the section for boxes (enclosures). Hopefully it will help you, and not confuse you.
Take the time to make an informed decision, it will pay off in the long run.
Lastly, don't do this;
"Geez, I got a sub now. Now I need a box...this one fits...okay."
Nine times out of ten you won't match the box size to what the sub is designed for. This will result in a sub/box that might not sound too bad or might not sound to good. It will, however, result in a sub that over time will fail.
