removing fan motor from fan shroud

How exactly is this done? I got the shroud and everything out of the car and now I am puzzled as to how the motor itself detaches from the fan shroud.

Remove the clip that holds the fan blade on the motor and there are 3 bolts around the outside of the fan motor that you need to remove and the motor will come out.

The fan blade will be very difficult to remove - you may need to use a punch and hit the fan shaft until the motor falls off.

k yah i took those 3 bolts off but it still won't come off. Guess I gotta use the punch method then

Do you mean the motor wont come off the shroud or the fan blade wont come off the motor shaft?

Well the fan, fan shroud, and motor were still all attached after I took those 3 bolts off and one retaining clip. I figured I would just have to knock the motor shaft out a bit to get the fan motor off of the shroud, but I just wanted to make sure first.

It is all apart now. Time to have the motor rebuilt, and a new Flex-A-Lite fan put in,

yah, prolly the original stuff so 13 years is kind of catching up. Its all good now. Too bad I cannot release the damn belt tensioner now to get my alternator out..
