Rebuild Complete but Need Help!

Today we got the engine finished and assembled after a head gasget replacement.

During the replacement the heads were fully P&P'ed along with RR's and ported manifolds

Now, the car starts up great but won't idle . It sounds like a terrible miss. If you get on the gas and bring the revs up, it runs better, but still rough. Smells like it's running rich.

It's got new HGK plugs with new Motocraft 8mm wires. We checked the spark plugs wires and 3 of the 6 seem to be firing different or "off".

Any help is much appreciated!

Steve,

Double-check your plug wire routing! It sounds like you might have mixed up a couple of wires either at the coil pack, or at the cylinders.

Good luck!

Can anyone else confirm this?

As far as I've read, it seems that it's:

3-6
2-5
1-4
FRONT

I just went through this with my car.

Coil Pack
1-2-3
5-6-4

Block
3 6
2 5
1 4

Check to make sure you don't have a vac leak. How is you IAC? Did you clean it? I had a bad one allowing too much air to enter the engine and the TPS said it was at idle so it wasn't increasing the fuel. My car ran so lean the exhaust manifolds turned red hot and the car held a 2000 rpm idle.

I replaced the IAC and its fine.

I'm wrong it not that way I will go back and fix my post I think I will look at my car tomorrow and make sure it's right.

I still have a miss and it runs a little rich.

IAC seems ok, maybe I'll look at it and clean it to be safe.

I'm going to double check the wires tomorrow.

If anyone else has any additional advice, please post it! :)
