Watch out for the virus!

It may already be too late, but there's a new virus (worm actually) spreading itself around known as Welchia.

If you should see your screen go white with a popup telling you that the system must be shut down and then providing a link to download a fix, don't click on it. Bring up the task manager using Control+Alt+Delete, go to Applications, and end task on all internet explorers which are not the site you're looking at.
There is a phantom window (one which is invisible) which will show up also.. wait and kill it too. You'll see an unknown task on your task bar (rectangular boxes at the bottom of your screen typically) which points to "http://ad1.zendmedia.com/cw.php?id..." This is the phantom.

Your firewall will not stop the prompt as its just a plain old benign looking Java app which wants you to click. In other words, its just knocking on the door. If you click on it, you're letting it in.

I work for H&R Block Financial Advisors and we had this yesterday. It is a major pain in the a$$. It was shutting us down about every 15 minutes- 30 minutes all day. Bummer thing is that it takes about 10 minutes to bring our system back online and running everytime. Fixed today but was a definate pain.
