my sc shuts off about 5 minutes after a cold start. it restarts if you leave it for a few minutes, and then runs great. the local ford dealer has no idea what the problem is. any ideas???

the smartest thing to do would be to get CODES from the computer. Get a code reader. I prefer a digital one. Its easier to understand it. Get the codes first and let us know what are they. The we can help.

Next time it won't start look at the upshift arrow on your dash. If it stays on while your cranking it, then it's your crank position sensor. Note: It should come on momentarily when you go to start it, but then it should go out.

your crank position sensor is the likely problem.

Like TBird dirver says, the upshift light comes on to tell you the computer is not getting a signal from the crank sensor, so if it stays on while cranking the engine, it's bad.
